Cozy beachfront house!

We stayed in this house for a week and loved it! It had more of a rustic cabin feel, which we were fine with. We loved the outdoor private shower and used this a lot when coming in from the beach. We also loved the second floor balcony and were out there all the time! Loved listening to the ocean waves from there. The kitchen had all necessary amenities and stocked with pots and pans, and things needed for cooking. We appreciated the very short walk to the beach directly from the deck. It was also a less crowded area of the beach too. This house was plenty big for our party of seven and was exactly what we were looking for!

Inaccurate listing & uncomfortably humid

I paid for and trusted that there would be 2.5 bathrooms enclosed in the main house for me and my children to comfortably shower and spread out. The second full bath was not connected to the main house and required us to unlock a separate door under the house. It was uncomfortable, inconvenient and unsafe for my kids and I to be apart in essentially two different homes. Four people had to share 1 shower for the week. The house is very old and is uncomfortably humid even when the temperature is only reaching lower 80s. A rate adjustment was not made by the owner when requested.

Ocean front

Other than the house being a little dated ( could definitely use some remodeling, paint , updated decor etc.,) one of the rooms was unusable due to water damage so we had to use air mattresses on the screened in porch ( waking up to the sound of the crashing waves was a plus) and it was dirty when we checked in and the lights underneath did not work so when we went on the beach at night to fish we couldn’t see under there to wash our feet when we cane back! It was over all an ok rental considering. It is on the ocean front with it’s on beach access and it could really use some stairs to help climbing the sand hill to get back up to the walk way and house. Also the bushes at the end of the driveway make it hard to see when pulling out! I would definitely recommend.

Renter Beware if concerned with Mice & Roaches

We decided to visit the area at the last minute, and prefer to stay on the beach, so our options were limited. Location was acceptable. It is pricey for the condition of the cottage. The room layout of the cottage was unusual. Downstairs bedroom / bath was basically a utility room with Washer & drier. The upstairs bedroom warmer than rest of the cottage. Unfortunately we saw several roaches each day. Also mice were eating into our food containers, so we kept everything in the refrigerator. We will plan future trips more in advance for better availability options.

Cozy Sea Chanty

This property is in a very convenient location. It is very charming with cute architecture and rooms. It is not quote updated, but that would ruin it! So it's okay. It is very neat and tidy. And well taken care of. We had a great stay! Right on the ocean.

Rustic beach cottage

The cottage is cute and with a little more love could be amazing. We wished it wasn’t between two rowdy condos. We encountered some cockroaches and mice during our stay. The rental company sent someone out two days later with. No notice to expect them. At that point we were on our last day. I will say that this rental has everything you need for the beach , many sand toys, and beach equipment as well as a grill, washer and dryer, outdoor shower for removing sand. We never had an issue with hot water even when we had 3 showers going at once! It’s a nice rental but a bit pricey for the condition of the property.

Nice location but house needs work

Don't stay here. The house is on the beach and is quaint but it needs work and is lacking basic things to make it acceptable. Note the 4th bedroom is only accessed from the outside and you walk straight into and odd bathroom/ laundry room. No wall or door around the shower or toilet! The screened in porch has no screens. Nice location on the beach, would have been nice to eat outside on the deck but there was no table. I could go on but just don't recommend this place. Oh and there were several different large groups staying at the place right next door that had loud parties almost every night we were there. One bed had no covers, just a sheet and there were no extras blankets to cover it. Not enough utensils for a family of four. No coffee maker, just a Keurig . This was not the relaxing stay we were expecting and the owner/property managers could do more to ensure the house is adequate for clients.

Fantastic location!

Great location on the beach. House is old and isn’t designed to maximize views of/access to ocean but the beach is just steps away which was great!

Good not great

The home is well situated and beach access is awesome. Old house is nostalgic but does require minor updates. Roof leaks, nails sticking up on deck and rusted metal screens deteriorating. Needs an additional shower to sleep 9 comfortably.

Perfect funky beach getaway

The Sea Chanty was the perfect base directly on the beach to share the Outer Banks of my childhood with my young family. We enjoyed sunrises from the upper deck and cool breezes on the multiple porches during a very hot and sunny week, and relished in the outdoor shower for washing off the day’s sand and sunscreen. House has plenty of amenities but we didn’t even touch the cable TV. Great to have on-site laundry, fully equipped kitchen. Location close to gorgeous Publix, other food stores and walking distance to some restaurants can’t be beat.

We loved the Location. The home was not as I had pictured. It needs updating. I love the charm of the home but it needs a good cleaning inside. New blinds and flooring.
