The Neighborhood:
Virginia's Northern Neck is a peninsula surrounded by unique and beautiful marshes and creeks, and is bounded by the Potomac and Rappahannock Rivers which feed out to the Chesapeake Bay. You'll find many opportunities to explore out on the water. Cedar House is on a quiet creek right off the Chesapeake!
Close to several mid-Atlantic cities, this vacation rental is the perfect place for gathering family or friends. Launch our single and double kayaks! Bring the boat! MLW is For dinner you could throw some local oysters on the bbq, grill up some fish from your charter excursion, or cruise into Irvington for dinner at one of highly regarded local restaurants, each with a different focus.
The nearby Kilmarnock commercial district is a great place to shop. Several thrift/consignment stores, a wonderful antique place with lots of individual booths is worth several hours of browsing. Irvington is just a few miles away and is the home of the iconic Chesapeake resort, Tides Inn. Restaurants and the shoreline are open to all. We love Fish Hawk, their causal restaurant on Carter's Creek.
A few more miles down the road in White Stone, be sure to visit Adrift. Fantastic restaurant with locally raised chef trained at the Inn at Little Washington. Great local produce and prepared foods at Old Farm Truck.
Enjoy the Pier House, a rare screened room on the dock, our Solo firepit, wrap around open deck with Adirondack chairs, and waterside gas grill. Then, get out there and see what there is to see. Small towns, scenic byways, friendly locals, shore birds, the Chesapeake Bay....it all awaits.
CULTURE
Fancy some culture not of the aqua variety? Visit the Rappahannock Art League in Kilmarnock or take in a show at the Lancaster Playhouse. The small by very interesting Steamboat Museum in Irvington is a must visit. The kids will love the Steamboat inside.
And for rainy days, head over to Compass Entertainment in Irvington. This amusement center has indoor arcade games, putt-putt, a climbing wall, a movie theater with reclining seats, a bar, a restaurant, and more. Kids of all ages love it! (Some sticker shock involved!).
NATURE
You may also enjoy exploring the Northern Neck's many designated "Trails," such as the Oyster Trail, the Wine Trail, the Water Trail, the Artisan Trail and, not to be outdone, the Coastal Waterfowl Trail.
Just a short list of the many things to do and see in the Northern Neck. We also recommend crossing the bridge over to Middlesex County and exploring Urbanna (home of the Urbanna Oyster Fest in early November--book now for that extravaganza) and Deltaville.
So relax here, where you are more likely to rub elbows with oystermen and artists than lawyers and lobbyists. Cedar House beckons you to slow down, breathe the salt air, and live like a local. You may even decide to become one. (And we can help with local real estate too!).
Add to your wish list or book it right now!
Getting Around:
A car is required here. Feel free to come by boat too! Bring bikes if you wish, it's very flat here and a great way to see the area! We also have a local bike rental company called Rappahannock Bicycle Company. Discount available upon booking. And find Northern Neck Bike Club online for group cycles. Book a sailing charter to see the area from the water. We love Sweet Sea Charters (woman caption with sushi available onboard! and Sail and Surf Adventures that offers lessons. Discounts for these are noted in our digital welcome guide upon booking and verification.

TRAVEL PROTECTION HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your investment. Unexpected events such as illness, injury, family emergencies, severe weather, flight disruptions, or other circumstances can arise before or during your trip.

3 DAY ITINERARY: Ask us for our 3-Day Itinerary with all our favorite spots and be sure to check out our partner discounts in our Welcome Guide when you book for catering, fishing charters, sailing charters, and more!
DOGS: We love dogs! $25 per night per dog fee, max of 2 dogs. You must clean up after them outside (waste) and inside (fur). No dogs on furniture including bed and no wet dogs inside. Dogs may not be locked in any rooms and should be crated if you leave the house. Additional fees will be charged if there is any damage.
SECURITY CAMERAS
For guest safety and property security, there are three exterior security cameras: one at the front entry, one facing the waterfront/dock area, and one along the side of the home facing the wood pile (it does not monitor the firepit).
There are no cameras or recording devices inside the home.
We respect our guests' privacy and only review footage when necessary for safety, security, property protection, or to investigate potential violations of house rules.
CHEF BRENDA CATERING
This is a local, third-party service that the managing host is assisting to arrange, and is NOT affiliated with the property owner. By booking this service, the guests understand that it is not affiliated with the property owner, and the guest agrees to release, indemnify, and hold harmless the property owner for any and all claims related to any third-party activities.
SWIMMING & WADING
Swimming and wading are at your own risk. During the warmer months, jellyfish are common in the Northern Neck's waterways. Creek and river bottoms may contain oyster shells and other natural hazards. We recommend wearing water shoes and using extra caution when entering the water. Please supervise children at all times and enjoy the waterfront safely.
