7 Storey Listed Windmill, dog friendly with outdoor pool & bbq
Part of the bigstaynorfolk luxury group of owner managed Norfolk holiday rentals. Totally unique, this Grade II Windmill has been completely renovated to provide a stunning holiday home. Standing imposingly within its large garden the Mill offers 360 degree views stretching up to 20 miles from the 7th floor. The garden has heated pool (April - October incl) and large patio and BBQ area.
The Mill bursts with character - internal beams, oak floors, wood stove, open fires and the former workings of the Old Mill. The huge kitchen/diner has French doors that lead to the garden. The split level heavily beamed sitting room is full of charm with the original mill stone as a main feature. The ground floor of the Tower is presented as a stunning formal dining room with round table. One ground floor en-suite bedroom, 3 first floor en-suites, and three further bedrooms with an additional full family bathroom and WC make this an ideal property for multi-generational and large friendship groups. Outside, in the large games barn, a ping-pong table, snooker table and table football provide hours of family fun.
Pool Information: The Outdoor Pool is open from April 1st to October 31st. We will be happy to heat the pool to 28 degrees during these months at an extra cost of £40.00 per night. This charge applies for the entirety of the rental period.. The mini games room in the main house is equipped with TV and Nintendo Wii, whilst the larger 50sqm games room by the pool has a full sized ping-pong table, a 3/4 sized snooker table and table football.
Children's Items: Junior bed, travel cots, high chair, monitor, stair gates ( fixed and portable), steriliser, bed guard, night lights, baby bath seat and non-slip bathroom steps are all available at the windmill.
Family Dogs: Well behaved family dogs are very welcome but we ask that they remain downstairs at all times and not be left alone in the house unless crated. The back garden is fully enclosed.

Excellent spacious property for a large family holiday. The property has everything you would want and need. Local pub was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
3 families (6 adults and rest teenagers / kids) get together for 4 nights
Had supermarket deliver for first night and spent the rest of the week enjoying each others company ! The kids loved the games room, swimming pool , we set up badminton and was other garden games too - we spent evenings playing bored games, so much quality time and phones / tablets hardly touched !!
Plenty of space to spread out too and spend time alone or with different groups of people !
We also had enough space to all sit to eat together and enought fridges to have a food fridge and an alcohol fridge !
The house suited us very well for our celebration and was well equipped with good facilities for all ages. The location was great as there were nice walks and it was very quiet. We found the decor a little strange and also the fact that most of the furniture was screwed down to the floor. The furniture was a little tired and the double beds were all very small for 2 people but the linen and towels were all very good quality. The showers in the 2 smaller double en-suites were very weak and didnt really work well and there were only 4 bathrooms not 5. Three bedrooms therefore had to share one bathroom. The en-suite bathroom to the main bedroom was very cold with no heating at all and the black tiles were very badly stained. The dining area in the windmill was superb for our celebration dinner and the large table in the kitchen was good for all other meals.
A beautiful and unique accomodation that is great for larger groups. Multiple spaces to socialise. A fantastic dining area and well equipped kitchen.Couldn't recommend highly enough
Sandra and Gary were the most helpful and welcoming hosts. The mill house is an amazing property with everything you could possibly need. The pictures dont do it justice. The beds were super comfy and im now a wood burner convert. Christmas here will be one my family will remember for ever xx
Just spent a fabulous weekend in an amazing property! Sandra and Gary are the perfect hosts all information was provided, property was exactly and more than expected and we can also recommend the local Good Earth takeaway x
Perfect quirky mill house for a fabulous family/friends weekend away.
All round perfect place, we didn’t leave the house for our whole stay. The pool was amazing. The accommodation is very well equipped. We really couldn’t have had a better time
Check in was very easy.. The house was amazing, plenty of space and the pool was so nice. Our grandchildren had so much fun in there. The games room was excellent and kept us entertained most of Sunday afternoon. The beds were very comfy, with beautiful bathrooms. The view from the top of the Windmill was breathtaking, especially watching the sunset. The local pub was really nice and the food was sooooo good Thank you to the hosts for letting us share your home.
Amazing house and location.
The layout is great, with everything you need to have a fabulous fun filled weekend.
We didn’t leave the property it was great. Will definitely return!
We loved our stay at the windmill! Everything we needed was provided and we stayed on property the whole time. Pool was great, games were on point, and everyone had something to do. No one ever said, “I’m bored!” Looking forward to returning next year!

A highly unusual property
Our stay at the Old Mill was most enjoyable - an interesting and unique building that easily accommodated all of our group. We also enjoyed the swimming pool - well worth having it heated!
Property was beautiful - loved all the original features from the old windmill and the tower is so special - so many talking points. Pool was amazing and lovely and warm - kids (big and small) loved it. Loads of room for everyone in the house and very comfy. Hosts were lovely and communication was great - if you want a memorable trip, definitely book this property 😍😍
Perfect get away for a family do or a Hen party type occasion
The property is beautiful.
The photos don’t do it justice.
We had 15 people staying here and there is so much room.
We didn’t really leave the kitchen area though to be fair but there is so much space you won’t get on top of each other.
I could easily do a weeks get away here. Was so nice.
Great House for family gatherings! Well equipped and good communication with owners. Clean and swimming poo was fabulous.
I would suggest that unless the family are very close the bedrooms in the windmill are not suitable : as little privacy . The rest of the house a joy, well lived in, but cosy .
The Windmill was the perfect venue for our family get together. Lots of space for everyone, quirky rooms in the tower for the children, lovely bathrooms with reliable hot water, and a fabulous kitchen with everything we needed. We especially valued the fact that the games room was well resourced with good quality equipment. The pool was a highlight, and there were plenty of lovely clean towels.
Only down side was that some repair is needed to some windows that let in water during the few heavy rain showers we experienced.
What an amazing property! We had a fantastic family weekend. It has everything that you would need and is furnished high end. It was exceptionally clean. Sandra called before our arrival and was very friendly, letting us know she was always available should we need anything.
Would definitely recommend booking Avril the chef. Food was amazing and it really made our last night extra special. 10* out of 10*
Beautiful property, but very open and lots of stairs with younger children. Very late check in 4pm (lose a day), early check out 10am!
Information received re WiFi, bins etc was all incorrect. States pool is heated April to October then asked to pay £40 per day. Leak in ceiling from bathroom in main house.
We stayed as a big group for 5 nights celebrating a 30th birthday. Everyone was very impressed with the place which was clean, modern, warm and luxurious. We made great use of the games room playing pool and table tennis. The kitchen was well equipped for a big group. We used the log burner everyday. Great big bathrooms with plenty of towels. Comfy sofas with boardgame and a wii console. We loved using the banqueting room for our evening meals. Slight downside was the top bedroom of the windmill was cold and damp so people slept in the living room instead. The master bedroom looks stunning but has no door separating the upstairs and downstairs so its hard to sleep without ear plugs and an eye mask. Having said that, overall its a great experience and gorgeous accommodationwhich we would absolutely recommend.
We (three families plus partners and dogs) had a great stay at the old mill in Stoke Ferry. We enjoyed the quirkiness of staying in an old windmill, and especially the fantastic large ground floor spaces. The kitchen was well-equipped and great for 16 adults who enjoy cooking, and having two different dining tables capable of accommodating us all was a bonus. The sitting rooms were comfortable and we LOVED having a piano at our disposal - we had a good sing-song and played piano duets one evening. Beds were comfortable and bedlinen lovely and fresh. We didn't have any complaints, though we did feel that some aspects of the house could have used some tlc - for instance there was a broken tap in the bathroom and one of the ovens didn't work. The area was rather underwhelming - not great for walking and a bit far to visit the coast - but all in all we had a brilliant time. Sandra was great, too - communication was quick. Thanks!
