This luxurious Georgian coastal property sleeps 10 and voted No.9 in ‘The Times - UK’s Best Beach Houses’ can only be described as the crème de le crème. A jewel with prolific historical culture and picturesque scenery spanning across the Bantham estuary, sea and lush rolling valleys. Within walking distance to the beach, pub and local shop. This beautifully curated house of dreams is ship shaped, with many quirky features to compliment your stay, from Bow to Stern, you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful Bantham beach is lovingly described as a tiny jewel along this stretch of stunning coastline. The sapphire blue sea and golden sands make this an unforgettable holiday destination. The waves attract surfers from all around the world but if you prefer a more relaxing stint on the water, Bantham Surf Academy will helpfully provide you with paddleboards, kayaks, wetsuits and all the information you need. Instructors are available to take you out in groups or one-one sessions if you fancy some extra tuition. Just minutes from here is the pretty harbour, where you can while away the hours crabbing, sailing, or just watching the boats go by. The Gastrobuses are a regular summer feature on the beach. Gourmet burgers, Devon ice-cream and amazing sandwiches are readily available all through the summer. Throw in some regular pizza nights with some live music and you’ve got yourself the perfect evening. The village itself is host to a fantastic pub/restaurant - The Sloop Inn. Here you can find delicious freshly cooked meals, an ever changing selection of creative daily specials using some of the freshest fish, meat and game and the finest local produce Devon has to offer. Head up to the village shop which stocks a great range of groceries, newspapers, freshly baked bread and pastries, as well as all your holiday essential including wetsuits, bodyboards and buckets & spades. Its beautiful terrace cafe produces a spectacular Devon Cream Tea which you can sample whilst overlooking the estuary and debating the age old question; Jam or Cream first?

The main entrance:
Ascending towards the front door, you will find a few steps. Upon entry to Bantham House you are welcomed with a bright spacious entrance area and cloakroom. Downstairs includes 1.5 bathrooms, a lounge and a large kitchen and diner. The downstairs bathroom is complete with a utility room, including a butlers sink, washing machine and tumble dryer, a large bath with overhead shower and toilet. The side patio is accessed via this bathroom, with an outdoor shower, ideal for rinsing off sandy toes before entering the house. An additional downstairs toilet can be found near the front door.
The social hub of the house is most appetizing with an open plan kitchen and dining room. With fully fitted units across three walls and an island in the centre of the kitchen; cooking with the family has never been made easier. This property is fully equipped with the top of the range appliances ranging from an American style fridge freezer, built-in dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, wine fridge, electric induction hob and microwave and a top of the range electric Aga; perfect for cooking up a storm to then be had with all the family at dining table seating up to 10. The lounge is found at the bow of the house. Here you can find tranquility and comfort in the bright south-facing room. It comes fully fitted with wide comfortable sofas, occasional tables, writing desk, flat-screen TV with Sky Plus and Netflix, DVD-player, iPod dock and an open fireplace. Leading out from the lounge through the beautiful bi-folding doors, you can find the patio with a large circular entertaining area.
An exposed wooden staircase ascends to the first floor, where the battlement balcony is accessed, overlooking the South Hams Valley. Back into the house, the romantic breathtakingly beautiful master bedroom is an absolute haven of tranquility, with the most picturesque views towards Burgh Island, Bantham Beach and Bigbury Bay. It boasts a king-size oak bed, a good-sized wardrobe, drawers, a dressing table, two relaxing tub chairs and the piece de resistance… the beautiful roll top bath, with a folding modesty screen. A separate en-suite with a hand basin completes this magnificent room.
Across the landing, the elegantly furnished twin bedroom presents a bright and airy stay, overlooking the luscious country valley. In theme with the view, this bedroom is complete with a luxury comfort style; an interchangeable zip and link twin single or super king bed, bedside tables, chest of drawers, lounging chair and washbasin. Next up is the children’s berth. This ship themed bunk room with two sets of single bunk beds (sleeps 4), under-bed storage drawers and a large cupboard with a collection of games, toys and dressing up clothes, is ideal for children. To top it off, the porthole presents a tremendous coastal view
A second staircase leads from the first floor to the fourth bedroom. This uniquely shaped room is spacious and bright with natural light beaming through from across the South Hams valley. This room is complete with a double bed, drawer space and a shower en suite.
The South West Coast Path runs right past Bantham - A ferry is available to take you across the River Avon (Not available all year round) and nature lovers may just glimpse Kingfishers, Housemartins and Guillemots in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Look towards the shoreline and occasionally they’ll be a shy seal among the rocks or even a playful dolphin. If you want to venture further afield, Kingsbridge and Salcombe are only a few miles away and the historic Tudor town of Totnes just slightly further. 'Outside Outside' activity centre and cafe, Woodlands Adventure Theme Park, South Devon Chilli Farm, and Kents Cavern are all nearby days out, particularly good for little ones. If you fancy a change from the coast, you can head inland to stunning Dartmoor National Park, with it’s magnificent Tors and wild ponies, it’s just a short drive away.
PARKING There is one dedicated parking space for Bantham House, directly outside the front door. Any additional cars may be parked along the main road between the months of October and April. Alternatively, a weekly parking permit may be obtained from the beach gatehouse, if required.
