"The staff were very helpful and clearly took pride in their work. Clean, comfortable bed and a nice It’s clearly an old pub and the room also had a lot of character which was a refreshing change from the tendency nowadays to make everything the same. Very nice breakfast with very friendly staff."
The Royal Lion Hotel

"The Royal Lion Hotel is a nice place to stay. It is in a very good position to explore Lyme Regis from. The staff are very nice and helpful and friendly. The food was good for me as I have some food intolerances and I could always find something tasty to eat. I hope they light the fires in the bar soon as it is getting chilly and a fire is so comforting. We had a very nice room with access to a garden and seating. Our bed was very comfortable and we slept well. A lovely shower with plenty of hot water as well. I also like the traditional rooms on the upper floors as they are more in keeping with the age of the building. I hope the Royal Lion is not modernised too much. We want to stay there because of the Tradition of the building, the décor including furniture and the comfort. Please don't modernise too much. We will be back."

"Had a brilliant stay here. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the room was clean, spacious and had everything you'd need. Location was excellent, right in the middle of the city. And the pub itself was amazing, with a great selection of beers and some of the best pub food I've ever eaten. Will definitely be returning if we end up back in Wells"

"A little dated and basic, but was very pleasantly surprised! Enjoyed my spontaneous night here with the dog, staff very kind and helpful. Big cups in the room, with nice biscuits and Yorkshire tea! Very affordable too for the night, would very happily return - given at a services, I didn’t hear the motorway at all! I stayed for convenience, not a ‘need’ and personally for £37 a night, I’d happily go back again!"

"Nice hotel with big rooms but poor lighting to do make up and nowhere in the bathroom to put down a wash bag or make up bag … glass shelf too narrow! Exquisite food. Thank you"
