  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Perfect Location!!!

This is such a unique rental...located on the second floor of a small commercial building in the heart of Duck. Downstairs is a real estate company/upstairs is the beautiful apartment. Once there, we never had to use our car. Just steps away from the sound and boardwalk, we walked for donuts and coffee in the morning and ice cream at night. From our porch, we had front row seats to awesome sunsets and gulf life, from birds to boats. Across the street an amazing variety of restaurants and shops awaits and the ocean is just a short walk down a private street. We've already booked our next stay!

In Duck, and on the Sound!

We loved this place, especially in off season! The decor was very nice. It was nicely outfitted. And the location was amazing for our Thanksgiving. ( we had a little trouble with the living room television. And you might want to checking the working if the toaster and the microwave in the kitchen ). Most of all I love the Sound sunsets!

This is our second stay in Duck Days this year. It is an amazing location (right off the boardwalk, walkable to restaurants, shops and the beach) and a stunning view. It has a great layout with bedrooms, bathrooms, and living space. Between the 5 of us, we represented three generations from 5 years old to 75 years and it was a great stay for us all. Huge thanks to the owners, who made a special trip to bring us some new chairs to replace a few broken ones, They were incredibly responsive to our need and great to work with. Look forward to returning again next year!

The location & views were great. There are uneven door sills between bedrooms & hall, causing me to trip & fall, badly injuring my knee. I had to go to urgent orthopedic care for xray. I couldn’t bike the entire vacation. No screens meant we couldn’t open the windows during beautiful cool weather. Inside was very clean; outside (windows, steps) were very dirty. There was no place to put clothes except hangers in alcoves ( shorts, tees, socks, underwear??). We appreciated having bedding & towels provided. We couldn’t find a can opener in the kitchen. The apartment sleeps six, but there were only two cheap plastic chairs on the deck. And they blew all over during the storm. It would have been nice to sit out & enjoy the view. We had the impression that the place was furnished as an extended weekend stay, not a multi week vacation.

Has potential....but cutting corners in various ways made it not as enjoyable.AC did not work when we got there. Lost half a day waiting for Maintenance. One shower head did not work.No indication that there was no soap included...dish liquid or handThe beds were not made....we had to make our own beds....never had to do that anywhere else.The chain on the toilet in 2nd bath constantly fell off...we had to reach into the tank to flush the toilet.4 roaches found on counters.It was such a nice space and location....it could have been great if we didn't have so many issues.
