"The host was very welcoming and gave a very detailed explanation. Although I was only staying one night, I felt the warmth and care of family. The room was clean; it was obviously cleaned regularly, many times a week."

"The location was ideal. The room was dated but fine. It looked like the sheets on the pull out bed had not been changed from last guest and there were a lot of ants. We were also asked to pay a deposit when we arrived, which I wasn't aware of and eventually they let it go but not without having to get upset about it."

"Lovely remodelled bathroom. I loved the view and a walk in the rose gardens. It was so easy to wander down the hill to the Orakei basin and the old church. Plenty of parking."

"The fridge did not work and I requested a new one on the first day, but it was not provided. My room was not serviced on one of the days, although I had requested it. The phone did not work. There was rubbish left in the corner near the lift. Generally the hotel was good. Restaurant and bar were great. Staff could probably do with a bit more training in the restaurant and bar, but there were very friendly."
