Wakakusa no Yado Maruei Ryokan

"The kaiseki dinner in the private dining room was excellent and the hostess was a very kind. The breakfast was excellent too. But the hotel caters to large groups and children. The rooms have zero sound insulation so children running around or other upstairs guests moving furniture until midnight is very disruptive. Breakfast was served in the large group room , again with a lot of noisy children. While there were both women’s and men’s sides onsens (baths), the quality are not at all similar. For the 1st floor baths, one side has a natural stone traditional bath with a dry and wet sauna and a cold plunge tub. But the other side has a tiled rectangular swimming pool like bath with only a mist sauna. The 5th floor has one side with a view of Mt Fuji. The other side overlooks houses and the lake. The private baths were all booked by others in advance so we weren’t able to enjoy them. The in-room shower was very simple. While view of Mt Fuji is advertised, you can really only see it from the rooftop observation area. The hotel faces the wrong way, overlooking the lake. This is good for families and large groups. But not a good place for couples."

"Our Western Style room was clean and comfortable and the staff was kind, thoughtful, and attentive. The food was the best we’ve had in Japan, especially the dinners. However, parts of the hotel are in disrepair. Hopefully, this will be remedied soon."

"Unrivaled views of Mt Fuji. The property is a fantastic mix of glamping style outdoor facilities, mixed with fine dining you'd find at any 5 star hotel. The room was modern, with everything you'd expect. It was clean and comfortable, with amazing views. Definitely exceeded all our expectations, given its location and surrounding towns"

"Rooms are clean. Staff is kind, didn’t speak English but we use our google translate app. They also have 2 options for a breakfast buffet. Free shuttle to take you to and from Kawaguchiko station. The best part of the hotel will be the hot rock bed, 100% recommended."

"This hotel is beautiful, he will meet all your needs with added theme park next door. You wouldn’t even know it was there as you could not hear it in the hotel. I would recommend to get a view of Mt Fuji as it was amazing seeing that before and after bed."

"Nice view of mount Fuji from our bedroom window. Staff were lovely. There was a good variety breakfast served. It was quite noisy as the rooms aren't sound proofed. Good choice of free amenities provided and honey shampoo, conditioner and wash in the bathroom"

"this was a very unique hotel, the hospitality from the staff was extraordinary, the ambience was Zen, the onsen was clean and warm, with a perfect Mt Fuji view. Loved every bit of our stay :) can’t wait to come back again!"

"LOVED our stay here! Initially when we were looking into booking, we thought it was expensive but figured... Why not, it's our honeymoon and who knows if we'll ever get another opportunity to book something like this. Honestly... Worth every penny!! We booked the room with the private onsen and it was wonderful. The onsen itself was really nice to have after all the walking we did. We also had our breakfast and dinner included and it was delicious! Would recommend this place to others and would definitely come back! Staff was also so friendly and accommodating!"
