Lumley Castle Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"The look and feel of the hotel was true to its historic roots. Lumley Castle is a lovely example of how a hotel can live within an historic building. The library bar was a particular favourite of ours with its lovely setting and the great cocktails. It is only the second time that I have received an authentic Smokey old fashioned complete with bell jar. Will absolutely be returning again to experience the main bedrooms in the castle and hopefully see Lady Lumley 🙂"

"The hotel was good, however the bathroom definitely require an upgrade, the tiles and bathroom suite is dated and plumbing old. The shower pressure was very low. The bedding and towels were really good. And this is very important to me. But definitely bathroom needs improvement"

"Called in advance to request a lower floor; and the receptionist, Annabelle was wonderful: making sure that we got a lower floor room, and just being very welcome. Hotel itself is a little dated decor wise, but is clean. Was very excited to find out the room had a little fridge in it. Perfect for a wee bottle of milk for my tea, and our water bottles. Room was very warm so we slept with a window open: word of warning: it’s very loud well into the early hours: and we were staying on weeknights. I can sleep through anything so was fine: but if you’re a light sleeper: it’s not for you. Perfect location: can access from the railway station. Just along the road from the Life Museum. Short journey to metro centre. And a walk to all main attractions (including the football stadium if you like that sort of thing) There was a room service menu: we didn’t get anything from it: but prices were reasonable. All in all, a good stay, and would stay again"
