We had a spectacular experience here. Virginie was wonderful and very responsive to any questions we had during our stay. This property is very special, just next to the Rance river. I would highly recommend choosing this property for your stay and will be recommending it to friends. This historic property is perfectly located in Dinan: by the river, in the center of everything, yet quiet. The property is beautifully restored and decorated. Everything we needed was provided. The host was very informative and responded quickly. Just a heads up on the property layout: the rental is on two floors and the stairs are steep with a tight spiral. The master is on one floor and the remaining bedrooms are on the second floor each floor with a locking entryway. We would definitely stay here again when visiting the Dinan area.

A memorable stay in a great location

Situated around the corner from the picturesque and vibrant port and a great location for exploring Dinan. A very atmospheric, unique and comfortable house. Great facilities and a friendly welcome. 3rd Stay Here, A Favorite

Our family stayed here for a 3rd time (2017, 2022) in June 2025 and had a great time. The house is extremely well located at the port of Dinan. On one day we kayaked the Rance River in the morning and went to San Malo (30 minute drive) for dinner. On another day we went into Dinan (old town) in the morning, grilled up some lunch in the house’s large and beautiful back yard and went to Mont St Michel in the evening. Everything about our stay was great.

Great historical character and super location

The stairs can be a change for some people, but it’s worth the climb. The proprietor was very welcoming. Loved the location next to the Dinan port. Anyone who loves hiking and kayaking will love this place. The place is a blend of history and modern conveniences.

Very nice and rustic, decor is quirky and goes with the house. Stairs are steep so someone with walking problems could struggle. But overall had a nice time 👍

Historic and spacious apartment

Great location in Lanvallay, a short walk to the river and many good restaurants. The apartment was roomy and nicely decorated. And there many features to help travelers, e.g. a clothes dryer. The kitchen was well supplied. Off street parking a real plus.

our review

Jean jaques was very friendly and helpful the property was very clean it is very well situated in the port of Dinan. The only down side was the outside space ( the garden) as it was not very accessible and if you wanted to bbq or have a drink in the garden it was very steep and a long way from the property to take all the things you need.

Mycket bra boende

2nd visit, a great place to stay

Our family (2 adults, children 12 and 16) stayed here in 2017 and decided to return this summer (2022). We love everything about the place. The port neighborhood of Dinan is perfect. We biked along the Rance and walked to Lehon a few times. We went to the neighborhood bakery several times. It is easy to access the rest of Brittany from this location as well. We went to the coast near Cancale several times (25 minutes away), had dinner in San Malo and day tripped to the Rose Granite Coast (just under 2 hours away). The parking was easy and the beds were comfortable. Hopefully we can return again soon.

Magical place and wonderful host

The location is superb - just a short stroll to the river with lovely bars and restaurants and then a magical walkway up a cobble stoned lane directly up to the oldest part of Dinan Town - or as our lovely host explained, there's a free bus every 20 mins near the proprety which takes you right up into the town if you want to avoid the hill (don't miss it though it's superb(!). The accommodation is absolutely magical - it's NOT the cream timbered house at the front left of the photo, it's the red shuttered one in the centre, our host Jean Jaques lives on the bottom floor and you have your own enterence to the two top floors - it's like living history and Jean Jaques has done a simply wonderful authentic renovation to create a very very special place. We enjoyed a wonderful three day stay and think it's probably the best way to see the Dinan area. Thank You to Jean Jaques for such attention to detail and hospitality which made it a really lovely stay 5 star plus!

Dinan Port July 2022

The property is very old and historic on the 2nd and 3rd floors up a spiral staircase. There are interesting photos to look at regarding the port of Dinan. It is very well situated for the restaurants and activities of the port and there are many different ways to walk up to the main town. We also cycled in both directions along the velo route direct from the property. The property was well equipped and our stay was very comfortable. A definite plus was being able to leave our car in the courtyard and out our bike in a storage shed. Jean-Jacques lives next door and it was lovely trying to speak to him about the house and garden.

Nicely appointed, but daunting stairs

Interior spaces are nicely arranged, decorated, and inviting. The availability of a clothes washer and dryer is a big plus, as is the easy walking proximity to restaurants. The spiral stairs extending up multiple levels are intimidating, and may not be feasible for guests with any mobility limitations or exercise intolerance. Communication limitations with the host were solely due to our lack of fluency in French, as he was very solicitous, kind and attentive. Any issues were due to our limitations, not his!
