Noisy at night

I had a great stay at this hotel overall. The room was very clean and tidy, and I felt comfortable throughout my stay. However, my window faced the main road, so it was quite noisy at night and a bit hard to sleep. Other than that, everything was excellent.

We love the Grand Chancellor Hobart, the location is perfect, with fantastic views and walking distance to a multitude of restaurants, and to Salamanca Markets. The location is easy to find and is easily accessible.

The restaurant was not open, and we were not told this prior to booking. We also had to manually lug our luggage up multiple flights of stairs ourselves. The air conditioning was not on prior to our arrive so our room was hot and stuffy.

This property was great. As a female travelling alone, I didn’t feel extremely safe due to the lay out of the building. I felt it was a bit too open and easily accessible from the street. The room was clean, tidy and plenty big enough for me. Double glazing of the windows would have been great as noise from the street was quite loud.

I had a nice view from my window over a park and some parts of town. It was within walking distance of the main part of town and other tourist areas. I went for breakfast around 8.30 and found that there were not a lot of choices for the continental breakfast. I also had to ask for a bowl and spoon, few cups left and food not replenished.

The rooms were overall good. The biggest disappointment was the response from the manager when she was alerted to the fact that the window did not close properly , allowing noise from front street in. This was the second visit in our 13 day stay in Tasmania and this particular room was booked for a special occasion at a higher rate. We moved late into the night to a smaller room, while a refund was provided, the inconvenience of moving everything late at night was never acknowledged , this left us feel very disappointed.
