Historic Guesthouse in Downtown Laurel
Stay in the Guest House of a Laurel home on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1909, the main house, Carriage House, and Guest House boast Mediterranean architecture on the City Beautiful's loveliest avenue. The newly renovated Guest House overlooks the back garden with its own gated entrance. Enjoy the private garden from two porch swings. Walk past some of HGTV’s Hometown houses to Laurel’s historic downtown or Lauren Rogers Museum of Art — both a block away.
The space The Guest House is a stand-alone house behind the main house, separated by a garden. The garden can be explored or enjoyed from 2 porch swings. The entire estate is enclosed by lattice and iron fences. The house is of historic construction with heart-pine floors, high ceiling, and clay tile roof. It is a miniature of the main house, with a porch and four rooms: foyer, living room/kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. The living room and kitchen have nothing but outside shutters to filter the sunlight coming through three 6 1/2-foot-tall windows, making it look like lace. The antique and vintage living room furniture is perfect for afternoon tea. Enjoy the fully-outfitted kitchen and eating at the J. Parker table.
The bedroom is extra comfy with a queen adjustable bed and memory foam mattress. There is also a twin bed in the same room. Extra pillows and blankets in the closet. A walk-in closet provides plenty of space for hang-up clothes and suitcase. The antique furnishings and Victorian lamp feel like “home.” The triple-baffle blinds and to-the-floor curtains make this room snuggly; they can block out all light or let the light flood in! The sound of the fountain outside can be heard when all is quiet. The TV streams Sling TV, Amazon Prime, Brit Box, Masterpiece Theater and various other channels for after a long day of touring.
The bathroom is state-of-the-art European style. Ladies, nothing says “relax” like a bath in the footed slipper tub, then drying off with a towel from the towel warmer! The slipper tub is also convenient for bathing little ones with its hand-shower feature. The glass and tile shower (with handicap bar) was built with tall people in mind, sporting a 7-foot-tall shower head as well as hand shower. A front-load washer and dryer is there for your convenience; detergent provided. The remodeling of this house was completed in 2021.
Other things to note There are 5 steps with no hand rail you must be able to walk up between the iron gate and the lattice gate. Additionally, there are 2 steps to get upon the porch and 3 steps into the house - both with hand rails.
Under no circumstances will pets or smoking be acceptable anywhere on the property. We have our own Samwise the bunny who hops around the garden freely, and my family is allergic to dog/cat hair and smoke. So please allow us to offer others a smoke-free, allergen free environment. We also do not allow parties, professional photo shoots, or any illegal activity on the property.
If you are expecting guests not registered on the rental agreement, please check with me first. An infant in addition to 3 registered guests is usually okay, but please let me know when making the reservation so I can provide what is needed.
When planning your trip, please note that many businesses and almost all eating places downtown are closed on Mondays. I have a studio apartment next door that sleeps 2 if your party is too large for the Guest House. Contact me to see if it is available.

I can’t say enough nice things about our stay. The house is so cute!! The owner is so friendly and thoughtful! Location is perfect! I would definitely stay here again!
Guest house is beautiful, exceptionally clean and well stocked. Perfect area! Dawn is a wonderful host and kept in touch throughout our stay and responded very quickly to any questions. Highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for an original location.
The guesthouse was so well equipped and it was very comfortable and decorated so cute. Dawn was delightful, friendly and informative. We really enjoyed watching her adorable bunnies frolicking in the yard.
Dawn and Jerry's Guesthouse was impeccable! It was quaint, warm and comfortable. We enjoyed spending time on the porch swing and visiting the bunnies. I was surprised at how close it was to downtown Laurel. Dawn was very accessible whenever we needed anything.
A wonderful place to relax, read, sit on the porch swing and listen to the water fountain while watching bunnies hop around the garden. It is a walkable area and the beautiful homes on the tree-lined streets are a sight to see. It is very close to downtown also. The host is gracious and has a lot of helpful information. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again!
Such a cute, cozy little home -decorated so nicely, great extra touches like snacks and some breakfast goodies, adorable bunnies in the yard, porch swing, walking distance to old downtown, such pretty old craftsmen homes and big trees line the streets. We even saw the “Home Town” crew filming 3 doors down which was so cool. Dawn was such a welcoming host and gave us so much useful information and history of the area. Such a wonderful stay. So glad we were able to stay there.
This was by far one of the most well-appointed accommodations we have ever had. The host went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Watching the rabbits in her gorgeous gardens was a bonus.
Great location, walking distance to downtown and for viewing historic houses in the neighborhood. The museum is also just down the road. Dawn and her husband are fantastic hosts, some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. The house was spotless and exactly as the pictures show. I could go on and on, just book it; I promise you won't be disappointed.
Dawn our hostess communicated with us daily. She prepared a city guide for us that had suggestions for us to visit along with restaurants and menu s..she also supplied us wit snacks and breakfst items.
This place was so amazing! We came for our nephew's wedding just a block away so we could walk to it. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the property manager gave us a history lesson of Laurel. The bunnies running around the back yard were fun and porch swings were great to sit out on. House is incredibly sturdy as we had a storm that we barely felt.
Bucket trip for all things Hometown The historic cottage was surrounded by hometown renovation houses. Dawn made us feel so welcome. We loved sitting on swing drinking coffee and watching the bunnies hop around. The cottage was better than the pictures. Cozy and beautiful decor. Walkable to historic area. So great!!
Three adult sisters enjoyed a lovely weekend stay in beautiful downtown Laurel. Dawn was a gracious host. Excellent communication and a personal welcome upon arrival. The guesthouse was immaculate and her attention to detail was superb. We felt completely at home. We were in walking distance of the museum and the beautiful downtown neighborhood. Would definitely recommend this historic guesthouse for your stay. Great job, Dawn! Thanks for your hospitality.
From the moment we stepped out of our vehicle it was like stepping back in time while still having all the modern comforts necessary to make our stay unforgettable. Miss Dawn made sure we had everything we could possibly need and even provided exceptional southern treats like homemade muscadine jelly and freshly brewed sweet tea. On a scale of 1 to 10 our stay was a 12!
My husband and I could not have had a more enjoyable time anywhere than we did in Laurel. Our correspondence with Dawn even before we arrived was excellent. From the moment we arrived and were welcomed by Dawn, we knew we were exactly where we needed to be. Her precious guesthouse was surrounded by beautiful gardens, relaxing fountains and two front porch swings. Dawn had provided everything we needed for our three night stay from snacks to breakfast to sweet tea. She even gifted us with a jar of homemade jelly. In addition, we got to meet the garden bunnies! Dawn made us feel welcomed like family.
My roommate from college and I had been trying to plan a trip together for awhile. She is a big Hometown fan so we decided on a trip to Laurel. We loved staying at Dawn’s place. We had a small apartment all to ourselves with swings overlooking a garden. The house was very well stocked. If we had wanted to, we could have cooked our meals. The location is perfect. I parked my car when we got there and we walked everywhere we went. Dawn is a very gracious host and checked with us several times to make sure our stay was a good one.
The guest house was very clean, comfortable beds, furniture and a porch with two swings to relax after a day of shopping in Laurel. Dawn the property host was very accommodating and attentive if we had any questions about our stay in Laurel. Neighborhood where the property is located is in the historic district. We would definitely stay at this property on our next trip to beautiful Laurel.
This place truly deserves the reviews you see. It was very clean and the host was so welcoming. Dawn was sure to let us know about the town and just made sure the guest house was as pleasant a stay as it could be. Be sure to read the packet in the sitting room if you want to know about the town and what to do. The area around the house is wonderful to walk through and see all the old homes.
When people speak of Southern hospitality, Dawn and Jerry are wonderful examples of just that!
Their guest house is immaculate and well equipped with all modern conveniences. From a high end kitchen, comfortable bedroom and bathroom, to laundry facilities.
Conveniently located in the historic district of Laurel Mississippi; we were able to walk and enjoy the downtown area to several restaurants, luxury shops and boutiques.
Dawn made us feel like long time friends with her hospitality! She went out of her way to ensure our stay was comfortable and welcoming to the community. From listing activities going on while there to complimentary kitchen delights to snack on. We felt so welcomed!
We would highly recommend the guest house as an extension of your Laurel experience.
The hostess was very welcoming and shared a lot of the history of her property and the community. The cottage was decorated beautifully and nicely stocked. She had brochures to help us plan our stay.
