"We booked the trout retreat as a long weekend getaway. This was just before a crippling winter storm hit most of the southeast. The manager’s communication with us in the days leading up to our arrival was excellent, including keeping us informed on the maintenance status of the hot tub, as well as offering provisions and concessions ahead of the winter storm.When we arrived, everything was as advertised. There was plenty of cookware, glassware, and utensils for us to eat in for all of our meals.Everything was clean, tidy, and in order. Our stay was during extreme cold temperatures, and this led to a large temperature differential between downstairs and the loft where we slept.There were plenty of towels, soap and shampoo supplied. There was a dedicated hot tub towel basket with plenty of towels. We used the laundry facility downstairs and that worked great also.We experienced issues with the hot tub being overheated, but there was maintenance staff on site when we arrived installing a part they had just received that afternoon. This leads me to believe that if there wasn’t a large snowstorm, preventing a technician getting to the house, arrangements would have been made to repair the hot tub immediately. In other words everyone was very responsive and even made accommodations for us to use the guest house hot tub instead.Lastly and most meaningfully to us, given the roads were really bad the day of our departure, our hosts worked with us on departure time. "

"Second time for us here and we loved it as much as the first time! Everything is clean and cozy, well stocked in the kitchen, laundry and bathrooms. Beds were nice and comfy too. The property was quiet and relaxing and we enjoyed a little snow too. We’ll definitely be back for another stay soon!"

"The cabin was really cute and had everything you would need. Host was very responsive to all of our questions. We wanted to ski, as cabin was close to Boone, but it was too warm and icy. Instead, we fished for trout and took long walks with the dogs. "

"My stay at this property was absolutely magical! From the moment we pulled to the front gate of the property, every single detail was perfect. The cottage was so clean and tidy. Our host Rebecca was very sweet and beyond helpful. My 11 year old twins had the best time as well. This trip was to celebrate my birthday so my husband, mom and kids were with me. Everyone loved the place. I’m a luxury kinda gal, so I really appreciated the art and furniture detail. I plan to visit every year. If you are looking for a fabulous cottage to stay in with all of the bells and whistles—look no further! Book this property you won’t be disappointed. "

"Great little place. The host was great, I had a lot of questions and he answered them all very quickly. It was really cold outside most nights and the heater inside did very well. I was worried about the bed a little but it turned out to be very comfortable. I’m 6’ tall but I think if you are much taller it might be a little uncomfortable. We were able to cook breakfast every morning inside with no issues. I think larger meals would be difficult. The views are beautiful. There are three other tiny houses on top with you. They are closer than I thought originally but it wasn’t an issue at all. We went horseback riding one day in Blowing Rock and it was awesome. We went snow tubing another day and it was a great experience as well. Overall it was a great experience. "
