We heard it gets very busy during the summer months so if you want to avoid the crowds, early November was a perfect time. Not too cold and all the shops and restaurants were still open.

"We enjoyed our stay at Auberge Saint Pierre. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The access to the ramparts was very fun! Be prepared to transport luggage up narrow stone steps as this unique medieval property has no elevators. Arrive late afternoon, miss crowds & leave before 11:00am avoid crowds. Lots of uphill stairs for full visit to the Abbey
