Butterfly Cottage Close to Everything

This cottage will give you the feel of living in the past but you will still have all the comforts of home. Just steps from the tennis courts, playground and walking trails. This cottage is what you desire if you crave the authentic feel of 100 years past. Thin walls, creaky floors and narrow steps are just a few of its charms . Remember to bring your Netflix and Prime passwords for fast wireless internet connection. Cottage is cleaned and sanitized after each visit. Don’t forget there are many attractions very close by including Hershey Park, Dutch Wonderland and the PA Renaissance Fair & Winery. Not to mention you are steps away from the walking trails of Governor Dick Park, the Gretna Playhouse, mini golf, a roller rink and the famous Jigger Shoppe ice cream parlor... and some wonderful eateries and restaurants. There is something going on almost every night including plays and live music. There is also a magnificent lake so close you can see it from the porch. Perfect place for a weekend or extended stay

I stayed at Butterfly Cottage for several weeks during a work assignment in the area. Going back to Mount Gretna every evening was much better than a hotel, and the hosts of Butterfly Cottage thoughtful, communicated well and made sure the cottage was clean and well-appointed. I look forward to coming back soon.

We stayed in the cottage for the art show and we loved it. The cottage was clean and very well appointed. The host thought of everything and we had everything we needed. We were even greeted with a bottle of wine and some chocolates! Excellent stay!

Lovely cottage in a fabulous location

Our group of 4 (2 adults and 2 older teens) had a wonderful time at the butterfly cottage, which had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We were within walking distance of Gretna Theater and the beach, and enjoyed learning about the history of the area. We hope to make a return trip!

Art Show/Ren Faire weekend

This was our first time staying on the grounds at Mount Gretna and it was wonderful. The cottage was exactly as described and we enjoyed being in such close proximity to the Art Show on the grounds and an easy quick drive to the Ren Faire for opening weekend. We would absolutely stay again! Everything was clean and well stocked—thanks so much!

A town that sticks to it's roots

Swimming at the lake is refreshing, music concert was a blast,nice walking hiking biking trails,iron furnace tour a must see,jigger shop must stop for ice cream. The cottage has thin walls so everyone needs to retire at the same time.

Sweet Cottage stay

We had a lovely stay with our daughter and grandson. It was just as described. The decor was nice and the cottage was very clean. There was plenty of space for us. The porch was wonderful and was great for us to hangout in. We would recommend this for others and would gladly stay again if we have a chance. Thank you!

Great Place to Stay for a Family

My family really enjoyed our stay at the Butterfly Cottage! We were visiting Hershey Park and wanted an alternative to a hotel room. The cottage was about 25 minutes from the park, but it was well worth it! We all enjoyed having our own beds and space after the long days at the park. The cottage had everything we needed, and was in a nice peaceful neighborhood. We cooked a few times, and found that the kitchen was well stocked. The owners were great to work with as well!

Relaxing stay

My whole family really enjoyed our stay at this property. Everything was very clean and the property was found to be exactly as described. We prepared all of our breakfasts and suppers at the cottage and this was the first cottage I've stayed in that actually had everything we needed - in the kitchen and throughout the whole property. We used this location as our home base to explore the area but we also spent a little time exploring Mt Grena. There were so many things to enjoy in the nearby area. We really enjoyed having available ice cream within walking distance!

Charming Cottage

My family enjoyed a lovely stay in the Butterfly Cottage. My daughter was competing at Dance Nationals in Hershey, and the location of this cottage was perfect for us. We were close enough to Hershey for it to be convenient, but far enough removed that we could decompress after the stress of the day. Check in and out were easy and the owners were quick to respond with any questions. We found the house to be well stocked with everything we needed for a lovely week. I would be quick to stay in the Butterfly Cottage again should we return to the area.

The house was in a great location, on a beautiful street in a picturesque village. The owners had the house well cleaned and prepared for our family of 5. The house has a ton of charm! The binder on the island was full of useful information about the house, the village and the area. While we did not need to contact the owners at all during our stay, it was obvious they are very attentive and would have made themselves available for anything we had questions about or needed help with. We'll definitely stay here the next time we come back to enjoy Hershey Park and the area.

Lovely My. Gretna Cottage

We love Mt. Gretna, and we loved staying in the Butterfly Cottage. The home is well outfitted and in the summer, it would be lovely to enjoy the porch. We particularly loved the faux fireplace in the living room that kept us toasty. Just one caution: this cottage might not be ideal for light sleepers. Some of the bedroom doors do not close all the way, and the traditional Philadelphia siding walls are very thin with gaps. Unfortunately, one snorer in our party meant most of us didn't sleep very well! Otherwise, a perfect stay. Thank you!!!

Darling cottage

The check in and communication was wonderful, we felt very welcomed with a nice treat waiting for us. Everything was clean and tidy. There are window AC units to cool the cottage. It's a little weird that the single layer of wood panel is all that there are for walls - no studs or regular framing. All the wiring is exposed, and the main line into the house is very accessible to everything and that made me nervous. Additionally, the quiet times and no smoking need to be stressed more. The borough rules are VERY strict. It wasn't an issue for us, but could be a problem for others.

Perfect for us!

Our family of 6 fell in love with Mr. Gretna and this little cottage! The cottage was in the perfect spot for loading our small children in our wagon and walking to the playground, library, music, and ice cream shop. Some of the other homes would have been much more difficult to use our wagon due to big hills. The Butterfly Cottage was the best-stocked rental we’ve ever stayed in. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. We did lots of cooking, and we found the kitchen easy to use. They even had kid dishes and cups, bandaids, ziploc bags, you name it! When we messaged the owner about a brush for cleaning the grill, he was very responsive. Within a couple of hours he dropped off a whole grilling kit to make sure we had everything we might need. Amazing hospitality! The air conditioners worked well, even in mid-July. We especially enjoyed the front porch. We are many dinners there and just hung out in the comfy chairs. I really can’t think of any complaints to share. It is a very old cabin with creaky floors and difficult doors, but that’s to be expected. If we are back in the area, Butterfly Cottage will be our top pick for lodging. Great price, great house, great owner, great location. You just can’t beat it!
