"We recently stayed at The Woburn Hotel (Luxury Cottage) and unfortunately it did not meet expectations.
The staff, bar and food were all very good. However, the issue was with the accommodation itself.
When booking, the photos on Expedia gave the impression that the cottages had similar features, particularly the room with the freestanding bath at the end of the bed. It is not made clear that there are multiple different cottages with completely different layouts, so we reasonably believed the photos were of the same cottage. The room we received was very different from what the images suggest.
The overall condition of the cottage was also disappointing. It felt quite outdated, slightly dingy, and not particularly clean or well maintained — not what we expected from a “Luxury Cottage”.
The bathroom was the worst part, with visible rust, limescale, mould, dirt and marks on the bath. It did not feel clean or well looked after.
We raised this at checkout and also through Expedia. Expedia have been helpful, but the hotel has ignored all communication from both us and Expedia, which is very disappointing.
We are simply seeking a partial refund and acknowledgement, but due to the lack of response, we would not recommend based on this experience."
