Absolutely beautiful stay. Accommodation, area, service, staff, food, wildlife. Just loved my short stay here. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough

Overnight stay highly reommended

We had a lovely stay. Hotel was clean and staff helpful. Breakfast was superb and the staff really worked hard and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely return expecially at the price we paid. It was a real bargain

The rooms were spacious, clean and extremely comfortable. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful - on reception, in the dining room and the bar. When they realised one of us had mobility issues, they went out of their way to make sure that things were made as easy as possible. The breakfasts are superb. Overall, a marvellous hotel with staff to be proud of.

A good option for Thorpeness

Good value, but rooms really need some attention. Clean though, and the superking bed was massive. Nice view over the putting green. Breakfast was excellent in a lovely room, and the service from the woman at breakfast was faultless.

Gem of a hotel in a gem of a place

My sister in law and I really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were all extremely friendly especially Keeley who went above and beyond to ensure that we were provided with all we needed as my sister in law was recovering from knee surgery. The hotel is very quiet and relaxing with lovely views and plenty of spaces to sit outside. The rooms were rather tired but very clean and comfortable. Although the standard rooms are stated as being on the ground floor, they are not accessible as the building is built into a hill so in theory you enter on the 1st floor and go downstairs to the ground floor The breakfast was nice with a good cook to order selection. Service was rather on the slow side possibly because golfers were often being served in the bar at the same time. Other thing to note Expedia state checkout is 11am when in fact it is 10am. All in all my sister in law and I had a lovely relaxing time here and would definitely return again. We highly recommend this lovely gem of a place.

Excellent base for the Suffolk area

Thorpeness is a good base to visit the Suffolk coast and surrounding area. We stayed midweek in a very hot spell of weather....and had a wonderful few days. A few minutes walk to the main lake - you can sit by the hotel if you don't want to walk, but there are steps. 15 mins or so walk to the beach, albeit a very stoney one, but a nice breeze once you're there. We ate (and had a few drinks!) in The Dolphin, which was lovely, and walked into Aldeburgh. That took almost an hour because we kept stopping to look at things! The Scallop sculpture, scenery etc. But Southwold was our favourite. Half hour drive, and well worth the day to wander round the town, have lunch and enjoy the sandy beach. Be careful on the beach though, as the tide comes in about 3.00.....we nearly lost our chairs!! But a lovely place to stay. Breakfast was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed. No air con in our room, but it wasn't that bad at all. We slept pretty well...and it was hot! Would recommend.
