Axel Hotel San Sebastián - Adults Only

"Very nice hotel, new and clean with a great and very helpful staff. Very walkable but a bit out of the way for the beaches. Very close to the rail station. Food choices are close by but they get better as you walk into town a bit. Nice hot tub in the lower level, steam and sauna are there as well. The pool is small but adequate and nicely situated on the roof of the hotel."

"Large room and cleaning was excellent. Housekeeping amazing. More bar staff needed especially when busy. Girl on alone so reception staff had to help which isn’t professional for a large hotel. Breakfast good but again only one member of staff on duty to deal with customers and tables etc. plenty of housekeeping staff though."

"Our stay at the Barcelo Costa Basca was simply perfect. The beds are super confortables, the staff’s cordiality is unmatched and the food was glorious. The gym and spa are a great complement to our guest experience. Only low point were a few minor maintenance issues in our room, but overall the best hotel in our trip so far. Thanks Barcelo, Nacho, Cristina and the crew for a wonderful stay!"

"Great location if you are looking for an affordable and practical alternative to staying in central San Sebastián. Pensión Beizama is in a quiet area of Astigarraga, with a bus stop about a 3-min walk away. Buses run regularly into Donostia/San Sebastián, passing the main bus station and continuing into the city centre, with a stop by Hotel María Cristina. I travelled alone and felt very safe in the area. The pension is above a small local bar/restaurant, which was very convenient for a quick breakfast and served good tortillas. They also serve meals, although I didn't try them. Within about a 5-min walk there are other local restaurants and places for pintxos, as well as small market and a bakery. I actually enjoyed being in a more residential area and seeing a bit of local life rather than staying right in the tourist centre. My room was clean with a small balcony. It was compact but perfectly functional. The bathroom was also small, but the shower area itself was spacious. This is a very simple, no-frills accommodation, and the price reflects that. There are three flights of stairs and no lift, and there is no AC. This wasn't a problem at all during my stay in the second half of September, when the temperature was very comfortable. Check-in and check-out were both quick and straightforward. Juan is really friendly. Overall, a simple, clean and good-value place to stay, with very convenient public transport."
