I’d start off by saying I enjoyed my stay overall, as a solo traveller who was looking to explore Kansas City, I found this to be a really convenient place to work out from. The parking was good, the people staying were friendly. I don’t believe my room had been renovated but it was still okay. The kitchenette was perfectly adequate, however the lack of utensils may be an issue as they seemed to have a limited supply at reception as they do not come inside the room. The breakfast left a lot to be desired, very limited options food wise I think one day I just picked up a muffin and never went to the breakfast again. Overall I enjoyed my experience.

booked non smoking, double queen bed room room for 4 nights. When we arrived they tried to put us in a single king bed room full of smoke and mold. Hotel refused to give us a cancellation receipt. Expedia said they showed no cancellation in their system. Hotel finally gave us a paper receipt after 2 hours of talking with Expedia and arguing with clerk at hotel. Very dishonest.

Generally, I don’t like to write bad reviews about anyone, but I’m making a exception this time. It has been 3 months since my stay here. When I checked in, the first room that I was given was very dirty and missing the chair that was supposed to be in there. After I complained to the front desk, I was told that there was only one room left in the whole place so I took it. The desk chair was missing from this room, and the floor looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a week. The next day I find out that I’ve been charged for 2 rooms, so I go to the front desk to get it corrected. They proceed to tell me that I was double booked (I wasn’t) and blamed the charge on Expedia. I then spoke to Expedia customer service who assured me that they had made no extra charged to my card. I’ve been in contact with Extended Stay on several occasions over the last 3 months and I STILL don’t have my money back. The property was also VERY shady … the neighborhood was fine, the motel was shady. A lot of shady people standing around everywhere, the property itself was filthy, you couldn’t see the grass in front of the buildings for the thousands of cigarette butts thrown everywhere. Empty and broken liquor bottles in every nook and cranny. I will NEVER stay at this property again, and probably will never stay at another Extended Stay America either simply because of the way my refund was just ignored by them. Giving them 2 stars is being VERY generous.
