About this property
The Poet's House, Luxury and Solitude on 100 acres
Welcome to the Poet's House on a 100-acre farm! This luxury one-floor house is the perfect romantic retreat for a couple, convenient stay with all the essentials for a family getaway, and a great option for business travelers who want both privacy and convenient access to Winston-Salem. This property has 100 5-star guest reviews through another site.
This luxury one-level home was designed with simplicity, solitude, and peacefulness in mind. The Poet's House features stone floors, mahogany doors, modern appliances, a combination of antiques and mid-century modern decor, as well as original art pieces.
The primary bedroom has a king bed, sitting area and sun porch overlooking the woods. The en suite primary bathroom has a walk-in shower, a soaking tub, as well as a walk-in closet.
The second bedroom at the front of the house has a queen bed and two large windows overlooking the front courtyard. The third bedroom has a double bed and windows that overlook the fruit orchard. The second full bathroom has a walk-in shower.
The open living room has comfortable seating and a modern soapstone wood stove for chilly mornings or romantic evenings. The open dining room can seat six at the long dining table (which is handmade from black walnut trees on the property!), and there is also seating for four at the kitchen island. Harman Kardon bluetooth speaker is ready to set the mood and play your favorite tunes.
Each bedroom has two bathrobes to enhance your visit's spa-like feel and cut down on what you need to pack. After each guest, we strip each bed completely and replace everything - mattress cover, sheets, blankets and coverlet are all freshly cleaned.
The kitchen is stocked with everything you need - Keurig coffee maker, pots/pans, dishes and utensils, stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. Custom, modern cabinets and drawers outfit the rest of the kitchen area.
A beautiful deck off the side of the house offers an opportunity to watch birds and wildlife, sit and enjoy your morning cup of coffee, or enjoy outdoor dining overlooking the woods. At the back of the house is a second deck (aka, "the rocking porch") where you can sit with another view of the woods and a sweet little log cabin that sits behind the house. (We're still working on a plan for the log cabin.) The third small deck off the back of the house has two lounge chairs and a brick patio with gas grill. The back yard is fenced in.
Naturally, the Poet's House has an office/library that is perfect for inspiring your creative side, working on your latest novel, or just tapping away on your computer. Guests are welcome to enjoy the library's books and games during their stay.
Guests have access to one side of a two-car garage. Other cars may park outside in the driveway. There is a single exterior security camera on the house that monitors the driveway entrance.
Guests are free to walk the 100-acre property, which includes two ponds on the lower half of the property which are suitable for fishing (BYO poles), to use the large fire pit in the middle of the upper pasture, or to visit with our goats, chickens and duck.
This house is wheelchair accessible - guests can enter the house through the garage without ever having to step up or down. Showers are accessible and both toilets have grab bars. The sinks and kitchen counters, however, are not wheelchair accessible.
We do allow pets, but please message the host before booking with the type of pets and their size, as well as to review the rules for pets staying in our rentals. Please do not request to book if you cannot keep your pets off the furniture. There is a $50 per pet cleaning fee.

Would stay here again 100%! Felt like an oasis and resort! Be sure to follow check in and directions exactly as the host explains! My family and I had a 5 star experience! Would rate a 10 star if I could!
This Vrbo was absolutely stunning. We have stayed in many and this place was ranked the highest in terms of details! The bathrooms were luxurious, coffee bar had everything you needed and the grounds were beautiful. We even had fresh eggs delivered to us! Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
The house and property are very peaceful and well appointed. The surrounding area is farmland with lots of nature to go with it. The owner was kind and communicative. We will love to stay again.
My family and I had an incredible stay. The area is peaceful and quiet. The house is a great get away to re-energize. Our daughter is non-ambulatory and dependent care. Never have we found a place we could get away and still accommodate her needs, until we discovered the Poet's House. The property mangers are wonderful hosts.
My family and I absolutely loved this property. The home was spotless, comfortable, and gorgeous. The property was serene and beautiful and my 2 boys fell in love with all the goats and the 2 dogs. Our host was responsive and provided all the information we needed. If we return to the triad to visit we will certainly stay here again.
Beautiful home away from the noise but close to anything you need or want
My partner plus our two dogs had a lovely stay at The Poet's House! The home is immaculate, tucked away, and super hip. We enjoyed walking the grounds, visiting the goats (and don't forget Clyde the duck), and star gazing at the night sky without any light pollution. Grocery stores are close by for in-home meals or Winston-Salem is just a short drive away for some great shopping or dining. We thoroughly enjoyed the time away and would 10/10 recommend and stay again!
This gorgeous home and it’s surrounding property made for a wonderful staycation in the town of Lewisville. It’s location leaves you feeling like you’re on your own planet yet on reality you’re just a short drive to anything you need! There are cute breweries and vineyards within minutes of the property. The host were wonderful and their goats were so sweet and friendly and a highlight of of stay! Such a beautiful home, the stay is well worth every penny! We will be back!:)
The Poet's House was the perfect destination for our out-of-town team members' stay for our staff retreat. Their accommodations were excellent, and the entire property (inside and out) created the perfect context for thoughtful, collaborative time together. Since I am local, I will definitely keep this property in mind in the future when we have out-of-town guests coming in beyond our capacity to host them in our own home. I could not have asked for a better experience!
This was our second visit to The Poet's House, and we just love staying there.
There's everything you need in the beautiful home - the wood burning stove is so inviting on chilly winter evenings. The farm animals sre a delight and the sweet dogs who greeted our two pups made us all feel very welcome. Definitely 10/10 stars!
Beautiful home located on 100 acres of farmland lends itself to leisurely walks, open fires, fishing, and interaction with the farm animals. Perfect for dogs, kids, and nature lovers. The house was very clean and owners have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. We celebrated both a birthday and thanksgiving and the kitchen was finely appointed with everything we needed and plenty of gathering space. We loved relaxing and visiting in both the indoor and outdoor spaces. The town was close by and had taverns, wineries, and grocery stores near by. It was a very relaxing and fun getaway.
Our family has to vacate our home for almost two weeks due to floor repairs. It was such a God send to find this beautiful and serene home in a heavenly bucolic setting. Our kids loved the land, the goats, the fire pit. It was like a vacation 6 miles from our house. We had no idea this gem was here but will remember it for our out of town friends coming to visit. The owners were amazing and kind. Thank you, Amanda, for all your helpful guidance during our stay!
We would highly recommend this location. Location is in the country which was very quiet and relaxing. House was awesome, we loved this house. The host, Amanda, was very responsive and helpful. We would gladly stay here again. Nice fenced in yard for our fiurkids.
Close to Medaloni Cellars and West Bar & Venue and Incendiary Brewery. Full Moon Oyster Bar & Seafood Restaurant. Or, just buy a bottle of wine or your favorite drink and sit on the back porch and enjoy the tranquility. Kitchen has all the amenities needed to prepare a 5 star dinner once your dog finds the "hidden" spice drawer by chance.
Thanks for working with our changing schedule.
Thank you.
My family and I stayed at the Poet’s House while we were in the area for a wedding. This is one of the most peaceful and calming places I have ever been. I would love to stay here for a week or longer. It was so clean, beautifully decorated, and made for readers. There are televisions, but we never even turned them on. We had coffee on the side deck watching the bumble bees on the flowers. There is a fenced yard that our dog loved running around and playing in the leaves.
We walked around the property and visited with the goats and their duck. Hanging out at the fire pit at night watching the stars was the best way to wrap up a busy day.
The host were wonderful and very helpful.
We stayed here while in town for High Point Market and absolutely loved it! The property was beautiful and the rooms were fantastic—so comfy and nicely done. We didn’t get to take advantage of all the great extras since we were up early and back after dark every day, but it was such a nice place to come back to and crash after long days at market. The host was great with communication and gave fantastic recommendations for places to eat. Would definitely stay here again!
Absolutely one of the most comfortable and enjoyable stays we have had. Beautiful location and property. Peaceful and restful. Second stay here for us. Our daughter is dependent care and in a wheelchair. Much easier to care for her here than any other possible accommodation. Hope to be back soon.
This house is more beautiful than one could imagine! We were so comfortable here and just in awe of the decor. The goats and dogs on the property were fun to visit and a nice “extra”. When we needed information and also when we had a minor emergency, the owners responded quickly and kindly. We will definitely be back when we are return to the area. We wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else.
This property had everything we needed for two little ones. The decor and furniture was also child friendly and we didn’t need to do much “baby proofing”. This space was beautifully decorated and we loved the secluded nature of the property.
