The living areas have beautiful views and accommodate eight people with sofas and comfortable chairs as well as blankets, throws, and electric fireplaces to stay cozy. These areas also have books and toys for children and a wide range of books and games for adults.

We had a great stay and the house and property were what we were looking for. Tom was a great host, great communication and ensuring we had what we needed. Weather was great for camp fires and hiking the trails on the property.
The host and location were very welcoming. The Halloween and fall decorations made us feel right at home. What stood out the most was the second floor sitting room with the fireplace. It was cozy and calming and we could have sat there all night! Looking forward to our next visit!
This is hands down the best property to stay in for a comfortable, close to nature experience. I stayed here with my girlfriend and a group of friends and we had a blast hiking around the property, hanging out by the fire pit, cooking dinners together, and watching scary movies. It was pet friendly and the dog had a great time running around. 10/10 experience and I am looking forward to booking it again this winter!
The house was amazing! The exterior looks rustic, but for the most part the interior was modernized. The house was large with more than enough space for the 5 people who went on trip with me. It's located in a very nice, quiet area that let us be away from the world and in peace for awhile. We also had ample space for food storage, cooking, etc., and the owners were even kind enough to give us sparkling cider. They were also extremely nice, communicative, and open to helping us during our stay. By far my favorite thing about the house is the history - even though they modernized it, you can still absolutely feel the history in the house. If you're looking for a place to stay that's peaceful and relatively close to D.C., this is it!
We enjoyed a retreat from the city in this lovingly cared for farmhouse. Tom was super responsive and our kids had a great time playing in the creek and in the woods.
This stunning home is a hidden gem, nestled on a gorgeous property with a charming access road that feels like a secret escape. The house was spotlessly clean, wonderfully accommodating, and offered perfect privacy. Tom was a fantastic host— his communication was top-notch, and he was quick to respond to any questions. It was obvious he takes great pride in sharing his beautiful vintage home, making it truly unforgettable. Highly recommend this unique retreat for anyone looking to unwind and spend some time in nature!
This was the perfect home to relax with family while we all traveled from out of town for a wedding. Rustic and charming. Tom is a great host, fast and clear communication.
We had a great time at this adorable farmhouse! Our family of 5 enjoyed cooked meals together at the table, tea and coffee every morning, and board games every night! Tom was extremely hospitable and made sure our stay was perfect!
My family and I had a lovely weekend staying at the Farmhouse. House was very clean and comfortable, and Tom was a great and welcoming host. Would highly recommend. We hope to return soon!
The home was spacious, very comfortable and had all we needed. Ideal location for our vineyard wedding just 10 minutes away. We enjoyed the outdoor spaces as well.
The farmhouse was charming. The host has done a great job of updating the rooms and bathrooms while still keeping the charm of an 1800s farm house. The location was perfect for visiting wineries, orchards and upscale restaurants in nearby Marshall. There were 6 of us and it never felt crowded.
Our stay at this beautiful property was as hassle free as it gets. Tom was an absolutely amazing guest and made everything as easy as possible. He reached out prior to our arrival and made checking in easy and also recommended a great spot to get a bite to eat in The Apple House! Everything in the house was as stated in the description. A nice little drive to DC to see our awesome capital. Would definitely recommend this place as Tom is easy going and very accommodating!
Five of my friends and myself stayed here for a long weekend. The home was amazing. Beautiful, clean and so many amenities! The owner was very responsive when one of the ladies staying here had questions. We had a wonderful time. I hope we have the opportunity to visit again in the future! I would not hesitate to recommend.
Had a nice peaceful stay at this beautiful historic house.
Plenty of room with comfortable beds for all of us and beautiful new bathrooms. Love all the coffee nooks (3). Lots of games and books in the cozy living room upstairs. We picked lots of apples right on the property!
We needed some quiet time away from the city and this could not have met our needs better. Beautiful, historic home was clean, spacious, and full of all the modern conveniences we needed. Plenty of space to roam the woods on the property, which is full of wildlife and beautiful scenery. And if you’re not familiar with the area, the host is historian-level knowledgeable and provides a long list of all you’ll need to know. Would love to rent it again, for sure!
We enjoyed the stay at this house. It is tucked away up a beautiful tree lined lane and thus is secluded and quiet. The house was clean and welcoming. All the listed amenities were present and plentiful. We had a little trouble at first connecting to the Wifi. I messaged Tom ( the owner) and he was quick to respond and the problem was resolved. I would recommend this property and if we return to the area we would certainly stay here again.
The property was beautiful, and our stay was quite comfortable. The hosts---Tom and Melissa were courteous and helpful. Our questions were responded in a timely manner. Kitchen was well equipped with coffee, tea, and all essential items. Bedrooms had clean sheets, and linen. Overall, our family had a wonderful time! Thank you, Tom and Melissa!

We absolutely loved our stay, the secluded historic property is so comfy and beautiful! Perfect for a relaxing weekend with friends or family. We even got to see snow before leaving and it was gorgeous! The beds are really comfortable, plenty of blankets, pillows, and seating as well as 3 coffee/tea makers (1 on each floor). The patios are also perfect for sitting and enjoying nature with breakfast. The host is so welcoming and kind and he made sure we had everything we may need. He even educated us on the history of the house and all of the wild animals you may see in the area which was so cool. We would definitely book here again, thank you for having us!
The property is a beautiful farmhouse. The owner has done a great job on giving it creature comforts. Property is very private with a cute stream and hiking trail on the property. We knew that the owner wanted to meet at us at check in, however we are very used to and love contactless check-ins, we did find that less than ideal to coordinate and meet a stranger after 10 hours of driving. We will probably stray away from that requirement in the future.
Easy to book and communicate with PM. Greatly appreciate being pet friendly as we travel with our aging mini doxie. You are in the woods, so there are bugs folks. Plenty of bedrooms to choose from on two levels for those who want to channel their inner Goldilocks. Kitchen is stocked so that it is easy to cook meals and for the coffee/tea drinkers you don’t have to leave the floor you are on for another cup if you don’t want to. Plenty of parking as well if you are traveling as a group. Trail and creek are a highlight. To note: you will hear the train as it travels through the area. Close to several local wineries, Front Royal for baked goods, and Sky Meadows State Park.
Beautiful home and an amazing visit. Tom is such an attentive, responsive host and made sure we had everything we needed and more. Great deal too given the amount of space in the house and on the property. We had 8 people with our group and plenty of space for everyone. Hiking on the property was absolutely fantastic and the views are spectacular. The home is spacious, clean, and comfortable, making this the perfect place to spend time with loved ones. We had everything we could possibly need during our stay and even got to make homemade bread in the bread maker! Thank you so much for letting us stay here we had so much fun and would love to come back soon :)
4 days of perfect weather in peak leaf color time. The house has an interesting history in its transition from a working farm to a place that maintains its historical past. Newer additions provide the basic needs for all who stay here. The amenities listed in the description are indeed all there with additional extra touches that will make staying there more enjoyable,,,especially for children. The property is spacious...45 acres of forest land on a mountainside. We didn't have time to explore it all. Good place to get away from crowds and enjoy nature in its simplest beauty.
