What a unique experience! The room included breakfast and a ~2 hour guided tour of the reserve. The rooms (with bunk beds) and the food/dining hall were bare bones, think summer camp vibes, but a summer camp where you are awakened by howler monkeys and tucans. Recommended!

Treehouse was amazing. My 18-year-old son kept saying "Wow!" We did three guided tours (Night, Birdwatching, and Rainforest Hike), all interesting and informative. Food was great. Only regret is not staying longer.

Property is surrounded by gardens who look pretty much as forest, you can walk by trails, or you can have access to real forest outside, but at the same time great location, 600 m from main road, little town and 8 minute driving to main Town Puerto Viejo. Rooms are little updated but clean, and fair size, they have couches and a balcony that really upgrade the room, cold AC, Tv, good internet, you will rest in that bed. Restaurant...

the breakfast was great. the pool was a nice way to relax at the end of a long travel day.
the staff was terrific. the grounds were a delight. flowers, birds, and butterflies everywhere.
however, just an fyi: to those susceptible, like me there are pretty bad mosquitos. especially on the river walk. my wife noticed at the end of our stay that there is mosquito repellent at the desk.

Pedro, the owner, could not have been better. The only warning I have, is make sure you email the owner yourself! Hotels.com did not forward my reservation to the hotel, so we had tons of trouble getting to the lodge. You must drive over a long dirt road full of rocks, which was terrible in a rental car and which Pedro will avoid by picking you up at the nearest paved road, if he knows you are coming. My little front-wheel drive Hyundai rental handled beautifully but, like all low-riding...

This place is an underappreciated gem. It lies on the banks of the Rio San Carlos with 24 individual cabins. The rooms are very spacious and nicely appointed. While the pictures show the cabins overlooking the river only around four or five of them actually do that. I spent three nights here in August, 2018. Note: the only way to access tortuguero town is via another boat. It looks like they can pick you up at La Pavona so you can go straight there and avoid the public boat everyone else uses. It was a wonderful experience. This place is unique....if you enjoy nature this is the place to stay. Their rainforest is awesome for birdwatching ,wildlife enjoyment and they have the longest hanging bridge in the country. Their food is very good and you can enjoy a free breakfast included with their very reasonable price!!!
