About this property
Log Cabin overlooking wetland reserve
This historic structure was originally a 2-story log home built in 1813. The home was used as an Inn or tavern along the Old Federal Road leading from Columbus to Springfield. The Federal Road was used prior to the construction of the National Road (AKA, Cumberland Road, or US Route 40). In 2020, I began the project of saving what I could of this old cabin. Most of the first-floor logs were rotted and/or unusable. Moreover, after more than 200 years the stone foundation was shot. Hence, the decision was made to disassemble the second floor of the original cabin and then reassemble it on a new foundation with walk-out basement. Many of the usable first-floor logs were then used as support beams or for other purposes. The cabin now has all new amenities. This rebuilt cabin overlooks Deer Creek and a 50 plus acre wetlands area. An eagle’s nest is located within the wetland area which can be seen with a good pair of binoculars. Two eaglets were born in the spring of 2023 and are now flying around the area with their parents. The property is 1 mile from I-70 and is only a 30-minute drive to Columbus, OH. The cabin has a covered porch, patio, firepit, and hot tub. Self check-in with keypad.

The cabin was perfect for our girls’ road trip. It was super clean and tastefully furnished just as pictured. The beds were comfy and the view from the broad front porch was beautiful day and night. We especially appreciated the mowed pathways close to the marsh for observation of the numerous water birds we’d spotted from the porch.
Perfect get-away for a girls weekend. Plenty of space, well appointed with lots of "extra" touches like quality paper products, plenty of towels - both bath and kitchen, nice beds and pillows, and several heaters and fans. We enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit too. I think we have found our annual spot!!!
It was a cozy relaxing weekend for me and my wife. They left us lots of wood to burn and the hot tub was excellent. We seen a bald eagle with amazing clarity because of the great binaculars they had there.I would certainly stay again.
My fiancé and I stayed here for a weekend getaway and we have nothing bad to say. The owner was super accommodating and responded fast! The cabin was cozy and had everything we could’ve wanted. Close enough to grocery stores so we didn’t even have to leave after the initial grocery run. Everything was clean and inviting, we couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Looking forward to our next stay here!
This cabinet was the perfect getaway. We came to Ohio for an event in Columbus, and the drive was not bad at all. The host was so accommodating and even gave us some tips about the scenery around the cabin. The hot tub worked great, and the cabin had all the amenities that we needed. I would highly recommend staying here, you won't regret it.
Beautiful restored historical cabin. Love how Kent salvaged the history but added in beautiful updates. The view is peaceful. The front house is quiet so it feels like you are in the middle of a big field with no one around. Relaxing weekend! The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable!
Perfect for our family weekend! The cabin was well stocked with essentials. The combination of the bbq grill, hot tub and fire pit was perfect. Location was conveniently close to the gas station mart for groceries. We were able to watch the bald eagles for hours with the binoculars provided. The history of the cabin was also interesting. It was evident that a lot of care went into the rebuild. Highly recommended!
This charming cabin was perfect for the 3 of us, with plenty of room to spare. It was clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed. The property was very peaceful and had great views. We enjoyed watching deer and other wildlife from the covered porch. The hot tub worked great. We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely stay again. Highly recommend!
