This dog-friendly Lopez Island home looks directly out on Lopez Sound and has great views of the Sound, both from inside and out on the deck. It's right next door to a boat launch for exploring Hunter Bay.

What's nearby:
Fishing awaits at the Hunter Bay County Fishing Pier down the road. The glittering rocks of Agate Beach, breathtaking beach and mountain views of Watmough Head, and scenic hiking and whale-watching at Iceberg Point are all less than six miles from the home. You're also moments from shopping and dining at the Southend General Store & Restaurant, with more stores and restaurants in Lopez Island Village 20 minutes away.

Great budget place with an incrdible view, BUT the baseboard heater in the bedroom did not heat the room, and the ground floor shower needs a new shower head. Exterior lights on the deck did not come on and the sliding glass door is about to come off the track.

Very beautiful location. Gorgeous view and exceptional stargazing from the nearby dock. Kitchen is clean and simply outfitted, (outlets behind counter to left of sink do not work, coffee pot worked at another outlet). House is adequate but bare-bones. ‘Bedroom’ with the 3 bed is actually the main entryway and unheated and the queen bed is broken and unusable. The house is spacious with a very comfortable living room and a gorgeous view and the blankets on the beds are pretty handmade quilts. Priced accordingly. You want all the bells and whistles there are many fancy dialed-in houses on Lopez. Worked fine for us.

The house is outdated and not kept up. Holes in rugs, holes in leather couch, with stuffing coming out, nasty sticky dining table that is so old, it can't be cleaned, gross floors, non working dryer, coffee pot not working, filthy lamp shades with stains or lamps that don't work due to broken switches, coat hanger fell off wall because it's nailed into the drywall with small nails, gross outdoor furniture on deck full of rust and mold, disgusting yard with landscape lights just laying around, sliding door that doesn't work, even the neighbor warned us about that!, no outside lights by main door, filthy roof full of moss and weeds growing out of it, when the wind blows, clumps of moss fall all over the deck and main door. The cleaners probably did their best job, but you can't polish a turd. We felt so dirty in that house. Gorgeous view, but a tear down of a house. It's sad that it hasn't been maintained. The queen bed on the main floor has a 'broken' mattress, you can see it has a huge sink hole in it. And....the washing machine stops at the rinse cycle. Cobwebs all over the huge livingroom windows. It's pretty nasty. Not at all as described. We saved hard earned money for this trip and were extremely disappointed. The floors of the house were so dirty, that our feet were stained black. No joking. I will never use Vasca again. This is not the first time we have been disappointed, but this was the worst time.

The location of place is absolutely stunning, but the house itself is old and has not been maintained. Multiple advertised amenities were broken including the coffee maker and a whole queen bed, and the sliding doors onto the deck are barely functional. We still had a great time thanks to the setting, but these were very frustrating issues.

Great location on Mud Bay, this is the second time my family has stayed at this house. So tranquil but also close to dock access. No wifi which may be a plus if you’re really trying to disconnect!

A Great Friends Getaway

Although far from the ferry and from town (15 minute drive or 40 minute bike ride), it was the most spectacular view and a great "off-the-grid" vacation spot for a group of friends. Bring everything you'd need as there are little accoutrements but at least there's a grill!

Great Location

The house is in a great location. The house is a little dated- appliances and decor. The house is listed at a premium rate due to the location but lacks other amenities such as updated appliances, bedding and WiFi. Watching the wildlife was the large living rooms windows was a great way to start and end the day. The largest bedroom that states it sleeps 5 has no heating source available and is very cold at night.

Poor lighting and cleaningness

My parter tripped and fell due to poor lighting out front and around the house, there were stains on bed sheets and dirty towels, there’s stains on carpet and floors. Cabinets had dirt and dust and dishes smell bad carpets and comforters had tears and holes. It was freezing cold when we arrived and it took a while to warm up the place.

Beautiful View, But Not Quite Ready for Guests

We recently stayed at this house on Lopez Island and, while it has a beautiful view and the potential to be charming, it’s important to know what to expect. The house had an eerie, somewhat neglected feel to it. There were bugs inside, a noticeable odor, and it didn’t seem ready for guests—very bare with no Wi-Fi. Upon arrival, the sliding glass door was left wide open, which was unsettling. The neighborhood has close neighbors, so privacy was limited, and there were no coverings on some of the windows. The kitchen wasn’t equipped for cooking, and at night, the house made a lot of creaks and noises, which made it hard to sleep. It felt like a once much-loved cabin from 50+ years ago, but unfortunately, it’s not as well-maintained now. This place could be a unique experience for someone looking for a rustic stay, but it’s not ideal if you’re seeking comfort and privacy.

Beautiful Lopez Island Setting

The location is amazing - boat launch is literally next door. The house has a nice layout that worked for our 3 generation family but it was built in the early '70s & is definitely in need of some repairs. The huge sliding door was difficult to open and close as it's so old. Windows in the living room are wood-trimmed & the trim is dusty and had cobwebs. This isn't the type of house a general cleaning company could come in and clean in a couple of hours - it's in need of a really deep clean. There were a few pieces of newer outdoor furniture on the deck but old, rickety plastic chairs were also there so we had enough places to sit but not very comfortably. The bathroom lighting upstairs has sconces by the mirror over the sink but the other light didn't work so showering at night was pretty dark. There's 3 trash cans outside but nothing was labeled for recycling so we weren't sure how to separate trash from recycling. The house worked well for us but it really is in need of some extra care. It must have been a lovely house back in the day!

Run down, disaster of a manager

We arrived to a bat flying throughout the house, dirty surfaces, dust bunnies throughout, broken and missing outlet covers, a kitchen lacking basic pots and dishwasher detergent, a sliding door that was inoperable, rotting outdoor furniture, a hole in the bathroom ceiling (where the bats came in, as evidenced by the bat droppings throughout that room and dripping out of the bath fan), missing trim, missing light bulbs, ancient appliances, a bathroom without tile grout and with detached tile, and rotting siding. When I called the management company to have even the basic issues addressed, the Lopez manager for the company started laughing maniacally, said I was trying to blackmail him, and hung up on me. The national office for the company sent a repair person who greased the sliding door (it worked for the next few hours, so that's something), replaced the broken outlet covers (while leaving the broken pieces on the floor), and taped the most egregious holes in the bat-access area. Then, I began receiving text messages from people within the management company trying to get me to say that they as individuals were not the person who hung up on me, seemingly trying to cover their own butts. This is not exactly how I wanted to spend my vacation. On our final morning, we awoke to a bat on the floor of the living room, not dead but not well. The company said they were shutting down the house to do some basic maintenance. I wouldn't hold my breath. The location is magical.

A great spot, but you get what you pay for

We had a great short getaway and enjoyed sitting in the living room and outside watching otters, seals and boats pass by. This property is somewhat cheaper than some other comparable properties on Lopez and there is a reason, as indicated by many other reviewers. The home has generally not been updated much at all since it was built, so everything creaks and groans. For some strange reason, we found that most of the crockery had not been cleaned properly, so we had to clean it all off as we used it. The property management company were highly apologetic for this and offered to send somebody over to resolve it.

Beach access, otters, eagles and friendly people all around. House is older but fit us well. Plenty of space to fit 6-8 people comfortably. Nice selection of towels and plenty of pillows and blankets. Bring garage bags, foil or parchment paper if you are planning on being at the house and cooking.

Lopez Island Xmas

The view was amazing, however the house had a running toilet that ran every 75 seconds 24/7. The glass sliding door was difficult to move, kept going off the tracks and didn’t close all the way, which felt unsafe. The downstairs bedroom space heater had a broken knob which made it difficult to control temperature. I did report all of these items to VaCasa as well. I’d sure appreciate a free night or a credit for some of the fees that get charged.

What a view!

It was fantastic! There is no wifi here, but you could sit and watch the water all day and it'd be a day well spent. The views are fantastic and Lopez Island has everything you need less than 20 minutes away.

It's accurate to say that the whole purpose of staying in this home was the view. It was heavenly. It was so quiet there. The house was built in 1970 and has never been touched since. It had no garbage bag. The dishes weren't very well either. We'd stay there again, even if it was so dilapidated

Hate to give bad reviews, but

First of all, let me say, the location is lovely if you want a laid-back vacation experience. The house is the problem it is not clean, it smells, there are carpets in a dog friendly house, that I would never recommend, and they are all stained. The kitchen and the entire house is like some thing from the 80s and has not been updated. The upstairs bathroom has been updated but there is not even a holder for the toilet paper! there is a lovely deck with a rail that is rotting and dangerous. Someone could get very hurt if they placed too much weight on it. The view deck has crappy furniture, plastic chairs, and wire chairs that are not comfortable. This house could’ve been so much more with such a much more enjoyable experience! it is obvious the owners are taking all the money from the rentals and keeping it instead of putting a bit back into it to update the house and make it more comfortable and promote it more enjoyable experience. Very disappointed would not rent this property again.

Needs work

A fabulous setting and a stunning house when it was built in the 1970s. But apparently no updates of the home or the furnishings have been made in over 30 years and sadly this once lovely home is in bad shape. On the positive side: • The view is great, as nice as any you’ll find on Lopez, which has innumerable view properties. • The main room with its soaring windows is lovely and takes full advantage of the view. • The big old leather couches are comfy and a nice vibe. • There are lots and lots of great towels and many pretty quilts. • The house is spacious and well laid out. • There’s a large deck overlooking the beach and the bay. • It’s a waterfront home on Lopez Island—can’t beat that! But for us these were overpowered by the negatives. Major ones: • The door lock is faulty. When we first arrived it let us in, but the second couple to arrive couldn’t make it work. Luckily we were already there and let them in. I notified Vacasa by email, text and phone but didn’t hear back until 9:40 pm. They said it was a user problem and we were given a new code. It also worked only some of the time and one day we had to climb in the window. • The heavy glass shower door in the primary bathroom was stuck and fell off the track when I tried to open it. No injuries, but it was alarming. • The outdoor furniture is old and wrecked. It needs to go to the dump and be replaced. Bring your own chairs as we did having read comments about this.
