Cabin Fever in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains

Cabin Fever is the place to be for rest and relaxation, convenience to the hiking trails and enjoying plenty of wildlife. Cabin Fever is a single story cabin with a finished walkout basement. The main level includes an open kitchen and living area, one bedroom and one full bathroom. The kitchen is fully stocked with dinnerware, cookware, bakeware, microwave, toaster, Keurig coffeemaker, electric can opener, tea kettle, usb charger port, and more. The living room is furnished with a sofa, loveseat and recliner, wireless internet, and smart TV. The bedroom is furnished with a queen bed and smart TV.
The finished basement level includes a casual living room style area furnished with queen size sleeper sofa and smart TV, and a section with a set of twin beds, laundry room, and full bathroom.
Sitting in rockers on the front porch of the cabin looking over hayfields and a beautiful open view of the Blue Ridge will be a favorite of any visitor. You can stretch your legs by strolling across a hayfield to access Lake Arrowhead, or pull up a chair and enjoy the outdoor fire pit or charcoal park grill.
It is fascinating to observe the wildlife that enter the adjoining fields to feed, or the eagles, hawks, waterfowl and other birds that fly over the property. It is pleasurable to hang out on either of the porches and listen to the morning or night sounds of the country, to watch the beautiful sunrises and sunsets unobscurred by smog or pollution.
During the day, take a drive across the Shenandoah National Park Skyline Drive, rent a kayak or canoe and float the Shenandoah River, visit the Luray Caverns, and more.

As advertised
A very relaxing location with a great view from the front porch. We saw a Bald Eagle from it, and each morning deer grazed in the field.

Good stay
We had a good stay at the Cabin Fever. It's a great location close to the town of Luray and the park. The place would be comfortable for 4 guests with a cozy setting and enough entertainment for all. Please note that there is no paper towels or bath toiletries. Also, if you plan to cook during your stay, tap water is not clear in appearance so carry purified water. Otherwise, it was relaxing to spend time surrounded by mountains and rainy clouds.

Cabin get-away
Cozy cabin for a couple or small family. Located between the town of Luray and the Caverns on one side and the Shenandoah National Park on the other, it is reasonably close to all. It is far enough out of town that you have unimpeded views all around of the mountains. A short walk across a small field takes you to Lake Arrowhead recreational area. Be prepared for a long-ish gravel drive.

Had a great time at the cabin. Owner provided great addition to Google directions to make finding it in the dark easy. Nice space for two plus lovely basement for kids to sleep and play. Great views of the mountains and local lands. Lots of wildlife including fireflies and turkeys walking through the field. Wonderful time, thanks.

Great stay
Missie's place was excellent for our family of two adults and two young kids. There were lots of kid-friendly amenities - baby gate, step stools, booster seat. We loved the secluded feel of the property. Even though it does share a field with a neighbor, it was easy to forget that, and the downstairs seating area looks out on farm buildings and fields only. Missie was very communicative, ready with advice and help when we had a question. The property is 10 minutes to downtown Luray and not much longer to Shenandoah. It's a quick walk or quicker drive to Lake Arrowhead and its beach - now free but unstaffed. We loved dinners in the open kitchen, rocking in the porch, and watching the fields light up with fireflies in the evening. Bring your bug spray! This is a well-maintained but otherwise natural area, just as intended.

Perfect spot for exploring Shenandoah
We booked this cabin because of its location, which was indeed so convenient for getting to Shenandoah every day, but the cabin itself was even nicer and more fun than we expected! Missie has thought of basically everything, and when we mentioned we were bringing our 6 month old, we also found a pack and play and baby gate in the home waiting for us. She is incredibly thoughtful and a quick communicator. Cabin had fast Wi-Fi; good water pressure in the shower; firm, comfortable bed; cooking pans and essentials like salt, pepper and olive oil in the cupboards; large, clean washer and dryer; and was overall so clean. We loved being away from the town — the farm atmosphere was so relaxing and beautiful with fields and cows surrounding the cabin. There are a few old empty buildings near the cabin and a neighbor’s house across the field. The driveway is long, curvy, and narrow with uneven gravel so I would recommend arriving the first time during the daylight if possible. That being said, the cabin location was especially wonderful at night — we saw so many stars and even the Milky Way one night. We will 100% stay here the next time we’re in the area!

We picked the cabin because of its location near the mid park entrance to Shenandoah National Park. We were able to easily get to all the amazing hikes we planned to do and come back each evening to all the comforts of a home. This was a relaxing week with some epic hikes.

Great stay
The property is nicer than the pictures convey. The Land around it is beautiful as well. We had a great time there. It is very convenient to Luray and to the National Park. Note there was not any dishwasher detergent but the listing asks for the dishwasher to be run, so be prepared for that. Also, note that we were lucky as the weather was perfect, had it been hot or cold the wall unit Heater/AC was making particularly loud noises. However, for our stay this was not a problem and we thouroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Great Mountain Retreat
My family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids ages 11 and 14) had a really great stay here at Melissa’s property! We were looking for an outdoorsy, quiet weekend away as a family, and this house delivered! It was clean and plenty big for the 4 of us. The kitchen had all necessary cookware and utensils. The beds were comfortable, and we had plenty of towels and pillows. The porch was great, and we used the fire pit each night of our stay for s’mores! The only caveat about the fire pit is, make sure the grass around it isn’t dry because there’s no gravel or stone around the base to protect the grass from jumpy embers. We loved walking around the property, and we scaled the big “hill” behind the house to get to Lake Arrowhead Recreation Park several times - that was actually a highlight for my kids. Worth the climb, for sure! Melissa was great on communication. She responded to my questions and messages very quickly, and the welcome email was very thorough. It really was a perfect stay for low-key mountain weekend getaway, and I would rent again!

Missie was very friendly and communicative. The place was clean, comfortable and close to Luray (check out Hawksbill Brewing, West Main Market and Broad Porch Coffee), with easy access to Shenandoah. The porch was a big plus and the fire ring was a great way to round out the evening.
