La Campanina is a small cosy villa with a private swimming pool and situated in the lower Maremma - an extensive and still relatively wild territory in the Southern part of Tuscany - at walking distance to the ancient hamlet of Poggio Capanne with a restaurant bar. The closest shops are at only 2 km away at Poggio Murella. Located in a quiet and relaxing position and plunged in deep nature, La Campanina offers the ideal setting to balance the energies and find peace and serenity, fully relax in the middle of the nature while staying at a well-kept and well- furnished house. As far as the eye can see the view from the house, especially from the terrace stretching on two sides, is on rolling hills and uncontaminated countryside, where you may even gaze at roes and deer. Nevertheless the location is also ideal for sightseeing with plenty of places to visit around. A renowned local attraction is Saturnia (less than 10 km away), one of Italy's most historic thermal sources with natural Waterfalls. In recent times a Spa and Golf Resort (with a 18-holes Golf course) was built close by, and is accessible on daily base. The area also offers plenty of charming historic villages such as Scansano, Pitigliano, Sorano, as well as Etruscan ruins. The country and elegant interiors of La Campanina feature a welcoming atmosphere with individual touches. The owner used to live here during last years and he equipped the house with all comforts, including air-conditioning in the main bedroom, wi-fi and a well-equipped kitchen opening on the furnished panoramic terrace where to enjoy al fresco dining and a swimming pool (8x4m) to complete a totally relaxing experience. Although being ideal for 4 people the house can accommodate up to 6 with the basement bedroom, accessible through the laundry. Having a wood-stove and a central underfloor heating, the house is also perfect for off-season gateways for enjoying the nearby spa or for exploring the region.

Thank you for a wonderful stay at La Campanina, for your warm welcome and generosity. We loved the fruit basket and olive oil. The house is a truly beautiful and tranquil place to spend a holiday, as well as being full of history and atmosphere. We were enchanted to meet Mitzi the cat, who arrived every evening for her meal, as well as being thrilled to see the local wildlife, including a young deer, a pine marten and a hedgehog! Dear Maurizio and Claudia,                                                                                     Many thanks for your generosity and kindness during our wonderful stay at La Campanina in beautiful Poggio Capanne. Your welcome with lovely wine, Olive Oil and fruit was a really wash welcome after a day of travel…molte grazie! The house is wonderful and very well appointed with every convenience on hand and the setting with the view across the valley are breathtaking. The pool was a real bonus in the hot weather and was enjoyed by one and all. We really enjoyed our companion… Mitsy the cat, she is a beauty and dutifully turned upevery day for her food! The area of southern Tuscany is absolutely stunning. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and hope one day to return.

Had an amazing experience - service quality was of highest standards and the property was great. We spent there 3 weeks and we never had a problem. The villa’s caretaker Maurizio was always available and took great care of us. The villa is in perfect condition and the panoramic view is absolutely stunning. Villa La Campanina in Poggio Capanne was the ideal spot for our 'live like locals, not like tourists' holiday. The photos on the website, although excellent, do not do the villa justice and cannot capture the essence of this magnificent area of Etruscan Italy. Excellent accommodation in a quiet village location within close distance of larger towns, it was the perfect spot for us to explore historical sites, soak in thermal springs and do what locals do; shop at village markets for fresh local produce, eat at fabulous trattoria, visit little known wineries and even splurge at a Michelin star restaurant. It was the best holiday we have experienced.

We thank both Claudia e Maurizio unreservedly for the care, attention and dare we say love, bestowed on us from Sept 7th to Nov 30th 2019. Would we rebook? In a heartbeat soon because Maremma Toscana is an hidden gem in Italy and as result we have truly lived out our dream at La Campanina. With heavy hearts we must now depart to return to South Australia (Adelaide) but La Campanina, Maurizio, Claudia and all of our experiences will live in our hearts forever.
