Our family of 5 enjoyed our stay at this Duck Key property. We've been to many properties in the Keys, and in fact have lived in the Keys previously. We would consider staying here again depending on the nightly rate. The owner is communicative and responsive to any requests. The middle Keys are a great location to vacation.
The condition of the unit is clean and functional. It has been a long time since anything has been updated with this property and if the owner wanted the unit to be in the Hawk's Cay resort program, there would need to be some serious rehabbing to get it up to their standards: furniture, lighting, mattresses, windows, window coverings, dishes, carpet, kitchen utensils, paint, bathrooms, etc., etc.
Speaking of the resort, this property is not part of the Hawk's Cay resort. Because of this, you won't have access to any of the resort amenities, even though the description may imply otherwise. It should also be noted: this property and all the Hawk's Cay properties lining this canal have zero access to the dock directly behind the property. This is not a temporary repair, this is a permanent ban as the privately owned homes on the opposite side of the canal have the only legal access. Do not bring your boat unless you have space reserved at the local marina as you will not be able to use the dock behind the townhouse.
Again, we would return this particular property as long as the nightly price reflected the tired condition.
