"We booked a cosy double but requested a refurbished room. When we arrived they took us up to room 19 it was completely bare no lamps, ornaments, curtains or anything on the walls no soft furnishings and very dowdy and old fashioned it looked like a very run down b and b room and no towels it was empty apart from a bed with sheets on and a kettle with tea coffee etc. It looked like they had emptied it and not being used. I went down stairs and asked if that was a refurbished room and was told no none of the cosy doubles were refurbished, I mentioned that I knew that they were the basic room but that there is basic and basic and this was more than basic and that I had requested a refurbished room through Expedia and that someone should have advised me that all of the cosy doubles were not refurbished and I would have altered my booking. The lady was very helpful and said that yes it didn’t say or advise on Expedia that this was the case and the photos don’t show the rooms in their current state and she agreed I should have been informed, but as she had a deluxe spare, she moved us to room 5 deluxe at no extra cost and apologised about us being misinformed the room is very nice and completely the opposite to the first room overlooking nearby cottages and not the carpark at the rear. If she hadn’t of moved us I would not have stayed but all in all it ended well. BEWARE cosy doubles are not nice and not like a nice hotel room. Breakfast good, fish at night not good not cod??"
