"Nestled in the hills surrounded by lush greenery, the Alver Hotel was our base for kayaking in the spectacular fjords. We stayed in an updated cabin that was well equipped with the basic necessities, including an in unit washer and dryer. Our stay includes a delicious breakfast buffet each morning. If possible I would give a sixth star for the friendly staff who went the extra mile to make our stay pleasant and memorable."

"Everything was beautiful. We were there for six nights. We are particular, especially when it comes to cleanliness. As former owners of several vacation rentals ourselves, we understand the need to maintain the property. Jostein succeeded in meeting our high standards. My only concern for us was the access to the house from where we parked. It’s a steep grassy path down to the house which when wet (which it was) can be slippery. In all fairness, we are seniors and it may not be a problem for younger ones. But steps to the house would have helped us a lot. Overall, excellent property. "

"The bed was huge, a little too big for the size of the room but the room was clean. The room was cute, kind of the old village style atmosphere. The view of the lake was beautiful and the complimentary breakfasts were "delightful"! Ginger shots, caviar, and fresh fruit smoothies daily. It's about 40 miles from the city which is a challenge for taxi service but the staff was extremely friendly. I enjoyed my stay."

"We had a family weekend staying - it was a great location with stunning views and quiet location. We did not hire cars and found taxis an easy way to get around. Good communication with owner, well appointed house."

"Owners are very nice and hospitable. Location has a beautiful view and both breakfast and dinner was fresh made by owners. Place is clean and rooms are taken care of although hotel is slightly dated. However the friendly owners make up for the outdated building and the atmosphere was friendly and comfortable."

"Wonderful stay under the swaying, mossy pines. Think “glamping”- the toilet is currently a portable bathroom outside. It was wonderful!"
