The property is nestled in the Medina mountains in an 11 room resort and spa. The owners met with us each night sharing stories, laughs, wine and food. In the morning we hiked up the mountain trail to a cabin with a back deck that overlooked the hillside. If you want peace, quiet, no children and good old fashion conversation you will not find any better than Escondida Resort. The entire staff is humble, courteous and good people to share a cup of coffee or a laugh. I highly recommend this resort.

Real Texan Getaway

My wife and I took a trip out to celebrate our anniversary and this was perfect. So secluded and in the middle of no where witch sometimes we all want. We absolutely loved it and will be back. The homemade dinner and breakfast is amazing and the hospitality is 5 star!!! Highly recommend for any couples trying to get away from the city life.

One of the most beautiful places I've stayed in the Texas Hill County...plus incredibly nice owners and staff. Plus, Kinky Friedman hangs out there on the reg. The only thing I would improve upon is the dinner, though I'm an admitted food snob.

There was no reservation for us when we showed up at the property. They said they never received a reservation request from Expedia. They also said they were completely booked and no rooms were available .

If you want to unplug, this is the place to be! No cell or internet service. Serenity is the word that comes to mind when I think of Escondida. There is a herd of wild sheep with a long horned ram that roams freely. Pool area is beautifully kept. All staff are friendly and food is wonderful. Does not have an elevator so if mobility is a challenge ask for a first floor room. Pool would not be wheelchair or walker accessible. Drive to Bandera for food, drugstore, gift shops is about 20+ miles but well worth it. Lots of deer and Texas road runners along the way.

The shower drain and sink countertop had some hair from a previous guest. The rest of the room was very clean. The massage therapist was a few minutes late on our couples massage but we still did receive the full hour service. Overall, we were pleased and we will go back.

Great place for a quiet getaway

Eclectic resort/spa ideally located for a quiet getaway in the heart of Texas Hill Country. Room rate includes breakfast and evening meal in an intimate dining room next to the open kitchen. Spacious patio area overlooking the small lake and rolling hills. There is no cell phone coverage and Wi-Fi is only available outside the manager’s office so a perfect place to escape from annoying phone calls, emails and Facebook!

Excellent stay. Food was superb. Staff is great. Property is quiet and romantic. Will definitely be going back. Love this place. This was our second visit. Massages are a must.
