Was on a business trip and was booked in the "premium" unit which is a travel trailer. No hot water. Could not use the microwave at the same time as the AC was running as this shut off the electric. Took 20 minutes to find the owner to turn electric back on. TV did not work, it turned on but could not get any channels. And i might have stayed even through all that, but not the ant infestation. Started out while i tried to take a nap in the evening. Felt something on my leg and saw a large black/red ant crawling on my leg while in the bed. Killed it and ok, a stray. Got up and noticed another on the floor, swatted it with my shoe. Then another appeared on the wall, killed it. After killing several more, i should have run, but i stuck it out. Dinner arrived and ate in the dining area, didnt see any more at first, but that changed. Took a shower, with cold water. More ants appeared in the bathroom. Tried to relax on the couch, more ants appearedi crawling up and down the walls. Tried to finish my food, ants now crawling on the table. Couldnt take it any longer. Left about 2am and checked into the Days Inn a few blocks down. Had a comfortable remainder of the night there. Owner is refusing a refund. Hotels.com gave me about $30 in One Key credit. Trying to add photos to the review of all the ants i killed plus ones crawling on the walls, but the app wont go to my picture gallery, ugg.
NOT a Bed and Breakfast...more of a boarding house
So I need to preface this by saying that I really enjoyed meeting the owner and appreciate what he's trying to do.
First of all it is important to state that this is not a bed and breakfast. Not even close. My expectations really weren't that high considering the price I paid for the room, and that expectation was not let down.
It's clear that the owner is trying to turn the location to a place where people can bring campers to stay a short-term or long-term or rent a room. It felt more like a boarding house than a bed and breakfast.
There is debris in trash in the yard that would be an easy cleanup but instead has been left there, including a pop-up garage tent which looks like was destroyed by the weather and is still lying in tatters in the front yard.
The front yard also boasts a number of work vehicles and run down older vehicles, owned presumably by the guests staying there.
The walls are extremely thin. I could clearly hear conversations in the room next to me. Many of these conversations were the types of conversations you would expect to hear from the people in a boarding house or even a halfway house.
The property is on well, which in and of itself isn't bad but there's no filter so you get a distinct sulfur smell from the water when you go to take a shower, and there was clearly some sort of residue in the sink after I brushed my teeth.
The kitchen area is not really a kitchen area and it also smells of sulfur.
The property needs a critical eye
