My husband and I stayed two nights with our new rescue dog and we all had a great time. The house was clean and cozy. Beds were comfortable, shower had good pressure and lots of hot water. The Shire is in an easy location to get in and out, but private enough that you feel secluded. The fenced in yard was the biggest part for us. We could let our dog outside to play knowing she was safe and couldn’t get lost. Lots of amenities like washer/dryer, hot tub, fire pit and kayaks for your use.

We really enjoyed our stay! Even though there was a burn ban and a drought, we relaxed in the hot tub, hiked in Desoto Park, visited arts & crafts events, went antique shopping, and ate local. The fenced in yard was a plus for our dogs. A perfect getaway to celebrate our 27 year anniversary.

My 87 year old mother and my sister wanted to stay in a cabin in Mentone, where we could relax and just enjoy spending time together. My mother was also bringing her 2 year old dog for her first trip. This is a perfect place if you have pets or kids or just want to relax. The river is amazing and full of fish and there are plenty of indoor and outdoor activities. The place was very clean and well stocked. We will be staying again more than likely in the fall to enjoy the season change.

A cozy cottage that is perfect for couples getaway. Location on the river is wonderful with kayaks to use, which is a definite plus. The hot tub was wonderful and very private. Great location near Cloudland Canyons for hiking - not to be missed. This is a great value for what you get. Definitely recommend this highly!

We should have booked more nights here! This place was incredible and we did not want to leave. The Shire is a great getaway. Everything was perfect. We can’t wait to make this an annual visit after dropping kids off at camp.
