2/10
Pros: The lake is crystal clear, shallow for kids to play in and a sandy bottom. The surrounding neighborhood is well kept and quiet with good neighbors. Having the paddle boat was nice, along with the one double kayak. There is plenty of room to park in the back. The dishwasher and washer/dryer were nice to have as well.
Cons: The house was not cleaned before we arrived. We opened the door and were hit with a musty smell that never left even with opening the windows and airing the place out. Same goes for the casita. There were air fresheners everywhere to cover the smell.
We spent the first 3-4 hours of our stay cleaning the house which included sweeping, mopping, deep cleaning the bathrooms, kitchen and refrigerator. The toilets and sinks were all dirty and someone left their swim suit in one of the bathrooms. There were dishes/pans with food still on them in the cupboards, they looked to be put away without being washed. From the state of the house it was obvious that the owner never came in to check to see how it was left from the guests before. You bring your own bedding but the mattress pads on the beds had not been washed for months. They had multiple stains on them and we could not fathom sleeping on them. We washed all of them before we could make our beds for the night. We certainly left the house in much better condition than we found it.
Outside there is no gas grill, only a charcoal grill. Luckily, we took an umbrella with us for the back deck to offer some shade during the afternoon. The waterfront is overgrown with vines and weeds.
Overall, this place has so much potential if the owner would make an investment to keep the place clean and in good shape. There is only a 2 hour window between guests to clean the place, and in our experience that is not enough time.
