"The internet wouldn’t connect and there was no Netflix on the tv, so no Netflix and chill as screen mirroring wasn’t possible. The hotel was lovely, surprisingly quiet and had an excellent access into the Calton Road entrance to the train station. "

"Great hotel and very convenient. The reception staff are excellent. They all without exception are helpful, generous and kind. The room was lovely but we missed not having a kettle from which to fill our hot water bottles!!!!! There is still only one lift working and other maintenance issues. Breakfast is in a bar with tvs everywhere and was ok but no really healthy options eg unsweetened yogurt, porridge, seeds, etc which I’d expect for the price we paid. But very central and warm. Will return. "

"The "Braids" has been my favourite Edinburgh hotel for many years. Sadly, she's now a bit of a faded glory. The decor is outdated and paintwork, carpets etc are getting shabby. The staff were polite but disinterested and the quality of the food is barely average. Breakfast ends at 09.00 - I arrived at 08.50 when there were some tired leftovers but no tea or orange juice. I'll probably give the old girl another chance for auld lang syne but couldn't recommend her to others. "
