"Everything was fine except for the tv in our room. The tv wasn’t hooked up and the front desk tried to give us an assist but we couldn’t get it to work. We were offered another room but took a room credit instead. All of this aside I would stay here again. Breakfast was above average, rooms were clean and spacious. A nice place to stay. Would have had 5 stars if not for tv situation"

"The House is AMAZING and the host is too! We rented the house for our son's wedding. The house was very clean and was well stocked. Michelle even had a few beverages for us to celebrate with on our arrival. Her communication was prompt and welcoming and I knew she would be available if we had any issues (which we did not).Highly recommend the property if you have a large group looking for a luxurious place to base your activities!"

"My room was clean and comfortable, though it could use a little updating in terms of the colors and the carpet. It was fine for my one-night stay. I did sleep very well. The staff was excellent. So very friendly, helpful and attentive! They had a really good breakfast, which I enjoyed. I would definitely stay there again because it has an airplane in the front yard! Very nostalgic! That makes it easy to find! The staff there is its best asset!"

"This apartment is in a hotel built in 1900. We enjoyed staying in an historic building in downtown Mineral Point. This second-floor apartment is roomy and very quiet. Large windows in the living room and kitchen let in lots of sunlight and fresh air. The entrance hallway has a closet, a bench and a mirror. Extra bath towels are provided. There are plenty of hooks in the bathroom and bedroom closet. Lighting is good, with table lamps and ceiling lights. Be aware that the floors in this 126-year-old building are not completely even. Watch your step, especially if you've had a brandy Old Fashioned at Eliza's across the street. An electric pot for boiling water, a French press coffeemaker, some coffee, a toaster and a microwave are provided in the kitchen. There was some cookware, but not enough to make a major meal. We prepared simple breakfasts and a picnic lunch. Free off-street parking is around the corner. The Hotel Royal is a good place to stay to explore historic Mineral Point."

Downtown's Best View at Howdle's Retreat

"We really liked the incredible views, hardwood floors, gorgeous light fixtures, cleanliness, space and location. The beds were so amazingly comfortable! Overall, such a great place to stay in town for the festivities! One does need to be prepared to carry up all their luggage up a long stairway. Some things to improve upon are: parking (it would be ideal to have a designated parking space in front), hooks on the wall in the bathroom, a light fixture over the dining room table, luggage racks for the bedrooms, and a better equipped kitchen. For example: more than 1 hot pad for the oven, mixing and serving bowls, napkins, and tongs."
