"The resort is surrounded by nature, very quiet and peaceful - perfect if that’s what you’re looking for. It can be a bit inconvenient without a car, but there’s a bus stop right in front of the hotel that runs at specific times and goes to the nearest train station, Shiojiri. The owner was very kind and even offered to pick me up and drop me off at the station, and he also took me to visit the old town, Narai-juku.

"Beautiful vista, food was great (strongly recommend doing a dinner reservation AND a breakfast reservation) owner was extremely kind and generous. He spoke better English than I spoke Japanese, which made it extremely easy to meet in the middle. 10/10 experience."

"Our experience with this hotel was overall good! Staff was kind and friendly, facilities were a little dated and the lighting inside the room needs updating, pure white light is not the most pleasant, however the traditional Japanese bedroom experience was very cool! Breakfast was also awesome! That alone made this experience super cool!"

"We had an extraordinary stay at this beautiful inn. The staff was so incredibly welcoming and accommodating. The room was quiet, well appointed, filled with delightful toiletries, and so comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast far exceeded our expectations, with fresh colorful food from the owner's farm and a warm, delightful staff. It is perfectly located at the base of the main street, walkable to everything you would want to see in Narai. My only regret is that we only had one night! I have...

"Our host, Takashi, was amazing and made sure we had everything we needed. The property was very well maintained and included all the amenities we required, such as a washing machine. We would definitely stay here again!"

"This place is beautiful. From the old buildings to the privet onsen, and the restaurant, everything was perfect. It is upscale luxury with a very old school vibe. We loved it here! "
"the included Dinner and breakfast were excellent with so many courses and nicely prepared. Very impressive presentation. The onsen, sauna and cold bath was very relaxing. The tatami room was very spacious.
In general, a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. A bit far, so shuttle was necessary for us without a car. Nothing nearby in walking distance. "
Renovated Traditional House in Narai-juku
Exclusive one-group rental
10/10 Excellent
"Perfect clean accomodation on the main street of Narai - closer towards the Shizume-jinja shrine. Thoroughly recommend for others to book and stay in.
A huge private home that can easily fit two families with three large bedrooms that have multiple beds in each. Modern facilities such as kitchen, laundry, and bathroom.
Takashi the owner was very helpful and pre booked dinner for us at one of the local restaurants. As everything closes early eg 4pm, it was comforting to know we had a dinner place to eat at. Thankyou Takashi!
There is a new modern cafe right next door that was also open at night when we were there.
The local cars that are allowed to drive on the Main Street were surprisingly very loud and noisy at night and early in the morning. With the paper thin windows everything can be heard. But this was ok for our family.
The little shops were great to peruse through and visiting all the shrines behind the accomodation was relaxing."
"The spa was highly special, unique, and magical. Our room was spectacular and the staff could not have been more kind and helpful. We feel very lucky to have found this place. The food is not just dinner and breakfast, but a culinary experience. Everything tasted amazing, we tried so many new things. Highly highly recommend. "
"Staying at La Terra Resort was an absolute dream. The atmosphere, the perfectly curated property, and the delicious meals were all wonderful—but what truly made the experience unforgettable were the people. The team behind the scenes, along with the staff, made us feel so cared for and welcomed.
One of the highlights was meeting Roshan, the owner. Learning about his colorful background and how La Terra came to be added such a personal and inspiring layer to our stay. He is a man of many talents, and if you’re lucky enough to meet him during your visit, don’t miss the chance to ask about the antiques on the property—each piece holds so much history and culture.
Adding to the charm are the lovely dogs who are very much part of the family at La Terra. Their gentle presence made the property feel even warmer and more like home.
We left feeling refreshed, inspired, and already excited to return. Hopefully one day soon, we’ll also get to experience Roshan’s other properties.

"Great option for your Nakasendo trail experience. Beautiful town. Be sure to walk around the temples and find the weeping cherry blossom (I think this was the name)."
