Lovely small hotel in Monpazier. Staff were outstanding in every respect. Food in the restaurant was very good although the menu was limited for a stay of more than a few days.

A beautiful place to stay, decorated tastefully and not overdone. My room was very attractive and although the mattress was firmer than I am used to I slept well. My view was over the valley but view from rooms facing this old village would also have been attractive. Efficient air conditioning greatly! Although small the garden was well maintained, as was the pool, and very quiet even at a busy weekend. Lovely sound of the water fall in the pool. Due to problems with my flights I arrived around 22.00 but was made very welcome and a tray of cold meats and cheese brought to my room despite the late hour. Much appreciated. My stay was brief but I would love to return and would happily recommend the hotel to my friends and family. In fact I have already done so! Many thanks to the hotel staff for salvaging a challenging weekend for me.

The property is a charming historic hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The pool was lovely as well, though it was a bit chilly to use it. We enjoyed sitting beside it. Our room was well appointed though cosy. People who enjoy a spacious room would want to specify that when booking. The restaurant is excellent. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner.

If I could give more than five stars, I would. Château Hôtel Edward 1er is, without question, one of the finest places we’ve ever stayed. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and exceptional hospitality. The staff made us feel at home from the very first minute. The property is simply stunning. Rich in history, beautifully restored, impeccably maintained, and incredibly elegant, it perfectly blends luxury with authenticity. Everything is spotless, and even the signature scent throughout the hotel adds to the unforgettable experience. The grounds are magnificent. The gardens are beautifully kept, the swimming pool is peaceful and inviting, and every corner of the property reflects the care and attention devoted to maintaining this exceptional château. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the beautiful medieval village of Monpazier, with its charming market and picturesque streets just steps away. Private parking is convenient, making it an ideal base for exploring the region. Every detail exceeded our expectations. This is far more than a hotel—it’s an experience. Without hesitation, it’s one of the very best places you can stay in the Dordogne, and we can’t wait to return. Highly, highly recommended.

An absolute gem at Le Périgord area, the château is gorgeous, the owners & staff are delightful, a great "Escape to the Château" experience, location is great to explore the surrounding attractions, we will definitely go back! The restaurant is outstanding! Michelin star quality meals.

This is a first class boutique hotel in a the village of Montpazier, one of The Most Beautiful Villages in France. We had visited Montpazier ten years ago and made it our base for touring the Dordogne this year. Isabelle and staff were extremely friendly and made every aspect of our stay outstanding. And the food was excellent! Thanks to everyone on staff!

Everyone was extremely welcoming and attentive. The Chateau looks amazing on arrival and even more so in the evening. It has a fabulous pool area and the views over the surround countryside are stunning. Our room was lovely which also had amazing views. There is parking on site and we had breakfast booked which was good. The village is a stones throw and definitely worth going to visit.

Isabel and her team are marvelous! I cannot recommend it more. This is the quintessential family owned and operated hotel and restaurant. The bastide town of Monpazier is like stepping back to the 14th century. It’s a beautiful time capsule of a place.

Idyllic chateau hotel

Absolutely beautiful chateau hotel in a peaceful setting. The staff are so attentive. The decor is impeccable. Our room was beautifully decorated and spotless, they even had a pet bed and bowl for our little dog. The breakfast choices were perfect. They had run out of scrambled eggs when we arrived as we were a little late, however a member of staff quickly went and got the chef to make an individual portion. I can’t rate this properly high enough. We will definitely stay again.

This was an exclusive, tastefully decorated boutique hotel. Our hosts were warm and friendly and have paid great attention both creatively and practically to the design and ambience of the hotel. The charming village is just a stone's throw away.The hotel offers a range of spa massage and facials, this is the best body, head and reflexology treatment i have had in years. Highly recommended. romantic location, but not proper luxury

positive first: the location is great, the building is fancy and romantic looking, the valley around the village is great, the team are trying very hard to provide great service so no complaints there breakfast was really nice too a bit of negative: the actual room is pretty basic, the mattersses were the hardest i ever experienced in france ,and wifi speed felt like it wasnt updated since the hotel was built in the 18th century

Quintessential beautiful French chateau style hotel in its own grounds with gardens and adjoining charming kidney shape private swimming pool with ample relaxers. White towels are provided by reception. Positioned a few minutes walk from the 13th C historical market square, Montpazier is one of the finest examples of a ‘ bastide’ created during the 100 years war by King Edward I. We received a warm welcome on arrival. The hotel is full of character, tastefully decorated and furnished. The bedrooms were on three floors via a spiral wooden staircase but no lift. However later I noticed there were bedrooms on the ground floor. We did have help with our luggage to our room on the third floor but be careful to watch your footing on the stairs as they are quite tight in turns. Our room was comfortably furnished with on-suite bathroom but not a separate shower which I would have preferred instead of crouching in the bath using a mixer attachment, there was no screen or curtain. I didn’t request a shower but I would if I stayed again. However the huge bed was very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. Plenty of storage and hanging space for clothes and seating with antique furnishings. Breakfast was continental style with a fabulous choice from 8am, my favourite was toasted brioche with fresh scrambled egg. We were unable to find an English news channel on our tv but that was resolved. Overall we would recommend this hotel.
