Excellent experience! Warm welcoming, beautiful and charming hotel with comfortable and quiet rooms, well located in old Montevideo, next to the port. Geronimo was very helpful in fixing our car rental problem. Highly recommended!

In the center of Ciudad Viejo, where there is impressive acquitecture, lovely plaza nearby good restaurants close to the port.
Beautiful hotel! Just in the heart of the old city in Montevideo!
Super clean, really good beds, very comfortable, the staff really friendly and very educated, they offer some fruit and other things as snacks, we particularly enjoyed the shots of Grappamiel that they keep available for guests.
The place is a really well kept antique colonial house, the furnite, the deco and the environment are just delightful, you almost don't want to go out of it and stay just there all the time!
We slept super good there!
A gorgeous, jaw dropping hotel! The area around the hotel is very busy and honestly, somewhat unkept. We expected a little more out of this section of Montevideo. Still, it is very easy to access the BUQUE BUS terminal and the main bus terminal from here. The hotel itself is gorgeous and in stunning condition, with amazing, friendly staff. Again, we were disappointed with the area surrounding the hotel, but that is on us. The hotel itself is absolutely impeccable.
The hotel is in a great location. The owners and staff were all very friendly and helpful with all questions and suggestions. We would absolutely come here again.
My favorite hotel in the Old City‼️
The hotel is beautifully renovated and so comfortable, clean and well located.
Jeronimo and Eduardo were so kind and helpful to make my stay amazing. I can’t wait to return in a few months!
Fauna was a delightful place to stay in Montevideo. It is an easy walk from the boat to Fauna, and Geronimo is super-friendly and helpful. The living room is very comfortable, and we enjoyed coffee there in the morning and after-dinner drinks there before we went to bed. The old city is charming, and Geronimo had excellent suggestions about where to go to eat.
The place is hidden from the street easy to walk past quiet but in a great location in La Ciudad Vieja. The owner is a fantastic person we were extremely comfortable there. Too many great places to eat
This hotel is lovely! The check-in was easy, the room was beautiful, and it had lots of nice amenities. I wish we could have stayed more than one night. The neighborhood had several places to eat within walking distance and the ocean is a block or so away.
Great little boutique hotel, located in the Old Town of Montevideo. Really close to the Buquebus ferry terminal from Buenos Aires. Jeronimo, really helpful and reached out to me night before about my arrival from BA and allowed for early check in. Hotel located within walking distance to historic sites and restaurants, hotel really quiet and clean. Definitely recommend staying here.
This was a gift I gave to my son and his girlfriend: 2 nights stay at Fauna. My son said this was one of the best hotels he ever stayed in. Absolutely loved everything about it and can’t stop bragging how great his stay was. I thank the owner and staff for an amazing experience!
This is a very clean and quiet small (10 rooms) hotel on the main walking street of the old city. Jerónimo and Soledad, the proprietors, are extremely friendly and helpful with making recommendations and reservations and go out of their way for their guests. Overall one of the best small hotel experiences that I have had. There is no restaurant or breakfast service but there are plenty of places nearby
Fauna Hotel is a boutique hotel in the old town area of Montevideo- it exceeded our expectations for so many reasons. Jeronimo and Solidad were exceptional hosts, ensuring our stay was a great experience. The hotel is an absolutely beautifully restored building with attention to every detail - very thoughtfully and tastefully finished! We found ourselves looking around constantly to absorb and appreciate the real beauty of the building!
Location is also fantastic within walking distance to the main sites and attractions.
The city of Montevideo is fortunate to have people with the skills and passion of Jeronimo and Solidad to restore such historic buildings. Wishing we had a longer stay!
If perfection exists, it would be FAUNA. My stay was fantastic and Jero and Sero made sure that I not only enjoyed my stay at FAUNA, but in Montevideo. My room and the building were beautiful and extremely comfortable. I had a great night sleep each night of my three night stay. Jero provided so many incredible recommendations of places to eat and things to do without my even asking. They truly care that you have a wonderful time and I am so grateful. I can’t wait to stay at FAUNA again when I return to Montevideo.
I like to see and support the preservation and adaptive reuse of older structures—it’s environmentally-friendly and preserves a view of the former cityscape. The Ciudad Vieja area is morphing and a little gritty but feels real, not sanitized for tourists. The architect has done his work on this small hotel and capped it off with an extremely helpful and personable (and multilingual) staff. Breakfast isn’t served in the hotel but there are many small shops along the pedestrian street on which the hotel is located.
Our stay at Fauna Montevideo was nothing short of delightful. From the moment we arrived, Jeronimo provided a warm and welcoming reception, setting the tone for a wonderful experience. He was also incredibly kind in recommending cafes, bars, restaurants, and things to do and see, which made our time in Montevideo even more enjoyable.
The hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous, with stunning decor that blends modern elegance with unique, thoughtful touches. Every corner of the space exudes charm, and even the subtle fragrance throughout the hotel adds to its inviting atmosphere.
Our room was exceptionally comfortable, well-appointed with all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay. While the hotel doesn’t offer breakfast, they provide complimentary fresh fruit in the lobby, which is a lovely touch.
The location is perfect for exploring Montevideo. Situated in the heart of the Old Town, it’s within walking distance of many historic sites, cafes, bars, and restaurants, making it an excellent base for discovering the city.
Overall, Fauna Montevideo is a fantastic choice for travelers looking for a stylish, comfortable, and centrally located boutique hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our two-night stay and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Montevideo!
Warm, inviting place with great mid-century modern charm. Very friendly and helpful staff. Super clean. Best value in Montevideo’s Cuidad Vieja and beyond by far. I would stay there again without hesitation.
