"A little misleading I must say, the owners are not there any more and the pool is full of rocks and dirt, I wasn’t too happy to see what I actually found. It’s a nice hotel otherwise, medium ratings all the way around and a good spot to stay for a night. Don’t expect much more."

Charming cabin near Garden of the Gods

"This property was really cute and fun, but the small annoyances detracted from the overall stay. For one, the sheet on the bed was too small making it very annoying to try and fit onto the bed and sleep on it without the sheet breaking free. The linens overall were not the most clean as we discovered pink markings all over the bedsheets and multiple wash rags having brown stains on them prior to use for a shower. Other than that, the property was a great stay, but the lack of clean linens and having a sheet that was too small detracted from the stay."

"Property showing signs of neglect compared to other Comfort Hotels, bathroom poorly lit, carpet looks like a crime scene, no remote for tv and they had to get one from another room that some of the buttons didn’t work. A/c worked but sounded terrible. Ice machine doesn’t work. We paid a premium price and didn’t get our money worth"

Sassafras Ridge Log Cabin by Garden of the Gods in the Shawnee National Forest

"Very sweet place, well thought out and tended to. We enjoyed our stay a lot. The cabin is said to house 6 to 8 but honestly you'd be comfortable with a max of 4 to 5. Great opportunities for fun right on the property - fire pit, hammock, porch swing and a little catch and release pond. General store a few miles away."

Unique 1970s Round House w/ Hot Tub

"When we arrived my wife ran over to the tree line by the pond and counted 27 kinds of birds in 10 minutes with her app (Merlin). In the evening we got a bullfrog serenade, and at night the hot tub overlooked a sea of fireflies floating like stars in the meadow. The location is close by Garden of the Gods, High Knob, Rim Rock, and about 30-40 mins from Jackson Falls, Bell Smith, and a winery. It's on a gravel road, and the tiny bridge on one of the roads from the east is a little collapsed, so no sports cars but SUV and sedan are fine. My only knocks are that I don't know why the main bedroom did not have a king size bed, we had minor issues with a burner on the stove not turning off, and I wish they had mentioned that the grill is charcoal and you need to bring your own. Overall, we loved our stay and next time we come to Shawnee we'll stay here. Perfect for couples who enjoy the outdoors."

"We had a great time in this cabin. It was clean and inviting. We made friends with one of the cats, Oreo. We were hiking so didn't spend much time outside the cabin, but there were some activities that you could enjoy outside. You may get woken up by the sound of a rooster or other critters which was not a problem for us."
