Liked: Cleanliness
Room was lovely, however the reception was never manned with staff smoking outside, everything just needs a lick of paint, no staff tidying in the spa leading to towels and cups everywhere, lifts out of order and water machines not working. Food and service in the Linden tree however was fantastic!
Bar food was over priced.
Room was clean but TV extremely outdated.
Staff did not have good customer service skills
Stayed in room 9 and throughout the whole night there was a very loud banging noise which continued throughout.
Noise was not from the room.
Neither of us slept at all.
Bed was extremely comfortable and ehower was excellent.
Bathroom good size
The breakfast was first rate, the cooked breakfast was just enough and cooked to perfection. The staff were amazing, really friendly and helpful which greatly improved the whole experience. The building internally would benefit from a little attention eg. Some flaking paintwork in hallway, but nothing offensive, and did not affect our stay at all. The room was clean and well presented, so glad we upgraded to Deluxe double. Noticed a little black mould on the grout around bath, but it was clear that the bathroom had been thoroughly cleamed. We loved staying at the Macdonald Linden, and would happily recommend it to other travellers
We hope to return soon. Great base for exploring the beauty of Northumberland. An altogether great weekend.
Excellent staff, rooms a good size with good facilities, clean and very comfortable beds. Food in the adjoining pub very good and a nice welcoming atmosphere. Spa facilities excellent. Only downside was the cooked food at breakfast is a little bland, tasteless, however a decent choice of serials, fruit etc.
Receptionist at check in very competent, unfortunately the hotel its self is looking tired and could do with a total revamp. Carpets threadbare, door frames and skirtings require painting. Many scuffs and chips, Bathroom floor tiles broken, general atmosphere within the sitting areas was souless, bar area never seemed to be open.
Bed an pillows very comfy tho.
All the staff were lovely and helpful so friendly and helped make our stay better. We got breakfast in with the price and spa facilities were in with the price too which were all great and fully working
Beautiful property in excellent, well maintained grounds. Dining was exceptional and the spa and leisure facilities were perfect.

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities
Reception was poor.general information was rushed and not clear. The room was cold but heated up slowly. It was clean and had expected facilities. The serving staff were attentive but not intrusive. Sandra made us feel that we were visiting a friend. The Spa is in need of maintenance. The major complaint I have is the access\exit roads. The \potholes are very deep and when full of water, dangerous.
We enjoyed our two night stay and will return. It is time for McDonalds to invest here.
Lovely stay, comfy bed, dinner at onsite pub was delicious. Extensive, well maintained grounds to walk around. Loved the small things like the notice in our room offering fresh milk and ice if you called reception and the filtered water dispenser in the area outside our room
The room, staff and breakfast were excellent. However we chose this for its spa facilities. Unfortunately the steam room was out of service, and it only left a hot tub, small sauna and small pool which were busy due to selling of “spa days”.
