"We loved our stay and our time in Makarora. It was spacious, with good kitchen facilities, BBQ, and comfy bed, lovely outdoor deck, aircon and fire box to choose from. Lots of Kiwi cottage charm. Birdlife and song incredible, hence the apt name! Close to some lovely walks too. Top spot for exploring the Haast Pass corridor, Lake Hawea and to escape the crowds of Wanaka but not too far away for a day trip. The cafe next door was closed for winter, but the cafe up the road was fantastic. 24hr petrol available in Makarora was reassuring."

"This studio unit was perfect with a view to the mountains. Dinner at The Hard Antler nearby was excellent. A great place to stay. Highly recommend. "

"Check in was good, details and directions given for our Lodge.All amenities available. Walked down to the Cafe/ bar and enjoyed a glass of wine in front of the log fire. Checked following at 9:45pm, filled the car from their onsite petrol station. All good."

"The accommodation was very clean. It had everything we needed, a well-stocked kitchen, and having the coffee machine was an added bonus. The beds were comfortable and great configuration for our group. Both huts were very warm and dry. The host was quick to respond to questions, and everything was just very easy. "No frills accommodation but certainly comfortable and had everything we needed. Steep ladder up to the bedroom loft (we’re seniors!) but we managed it carefully. No tv but we didn’t mind. Amazing starry night each night of our stay. Close to the A2O bike trail where we biked from our accommodation towards Twizel, Great communication from host. Thank you. "
