"Very friendly staff, we felt very welcomed & appreciated being able to drop our luggage off earlier than check in. They had very thoughtfully considered that my travelling companion & I may prefer to be in rooms close to each other & so booked us into rooms a stones throw from each other with one room being a free upgrade because of this. Thank you! The rooms were clean, beds comfortable with more than adequate seating, table and kitchenette facilities. There is traffic noise but situated on a main road only to be expected. Our stay was during October, the weather was wet and cold and even though we were for the most part comfortable temperature wise, we would not book to stay there during the colder months as, based on the rooms we had, do not feel the heating would be adequate plus there are no electric blankets. We feel the somewhat steep walk to the Motor Lodge should be mentioned on the sites that advertise this property; we arrived on foot, having travelled on the Coastal Pacific, & even though by chance we read mention of it when we did a Google maps search to get directions & are still mobile enough in our late 60's for it to be well manageable, we feel that for some it would be an important aspect to consider when booking. We were surprised that there was no information in our rooms in respect of things such as safety evacuation process, how to operate the tv/sky box etc. Overall, yes we can recommend it, but just bear in mind the few points mentioned."

"The place was great! Maybe not for everyone but perfect for anyone with kids or just looking for something a little different. We are seniors but have done a lot of camping and this was glamping at its best. We picked the yurt which had an outdoor kitchen and an external bathroom. Everything felt really authentic yet still very modern. It all was just there as one would expect from a nice hotel but presented in a different way. Kind of a cowboy camp or depression era type of a kitchen outside but with a gas bbq and cook stove and hot running water. Really enjoyed it. The other sites looked like interesting places to stay too. Our bathroom was as perfect as any and yet different. If coming from the south be careful with Apple app directions as it took us to where the road crosses a river only suitable for a 4x4. But from Kaikōura it was easy to get to just off the highway."

"Great cabin - warm, comfortable and generally clean. There was a bit of mould in the bathroom (wetfloor) unfortunately. The staff were fantastic and helpful. The holiday park is lovely. It's a shame the pool/hot pool isn't open a bit later though, especially in the warmer weather (also a shame the hot pools are not free - $20 for 30 minutes). Close to town and affordable! Enjoyed our stay! "
