Madison Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"The Madison Hotel is easily one of the finest and most enjoyable hotel experiences I have ever had—and I have stayed in many hotels. From the moment I arrived, the staff demonstrated a level of genuine warmth, professionalism and hospitality that is increasingly difficult to find. The property itself is breathtaking. Its beautiful Georgian-style architecture, traditional interiors and extraordinary glass Conservatory give the Madison the gracious character of another era while remaining wonderfully comfortable and inviting. Rod’s Steak & Seafood Grille is equally special: gorgeous wood paneling, leather seating and the warmth of a classic American steakhouse, complemented by terrific service, excellent food and surprisingly reasonable prices. Even the complimentary breakfast is exceptional—they mean a full, beautifully prepared breakfast with an actual assortment of quality food. Room service was prompt, consistently delicious and another example of something the Madison simply does better: whatever you order seems to arrive as the premium version of it. For travelers visiting the area or heading into New York, Convent Station and the Morris & Essex Line are directly across the parking lot. I also saw the care given to the hotel’s wedding events, and the setting is magnificent. Beautiful property, wonderful food and truly outstanding people. The Madison understands hospitality. I cannot recommend it highly enough."

"This hotel is definitely past its prime, but I found it very comfortable for a 2 night stay. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, the TV worked, the bathroom was old but manageable, and everyone that worked there was lovely. The double room I had was very small-- 2 double beds and no room for a chair and no space to put things on. I was alone in the room and I used the provided ironing board as a table to lay out my things. I ate both nights at the bar which was very good. The first night the bar was filled with VERY LOUD golfers, second night we got our food to go and ate it elsewhere in the hotel. There is housekeeping service in the rooms every day which is a rarity in many hotels now. The pool looked ok but I didn't use it. If I was again traveling solo and in the area, I would go back to the hotel because it fit my needs and was near endless hiking trails."

"We arrived very early but able to check in which was a huge help. Front desk was very friendly and extremely accommodating for us to have an assessable room. The only negative is that we were told none of the rooms have assessable showers, all had tubs which is a hinderance for handicapped people. Breakfast was very nice but disappointing that the waffles weren’t available during the week. Waffles aside, this breakfast was one of the best I’ve seen for “free”."

"Every day room service, great to get in a clean room. Enough towel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking, evenings parking very lite up. Hotel is set in a very peaceful, restful area. My husband and I enjoyed our stayed in Hotel Troy."

"Top tier services, clean rooms, and functioning amenities. Only thing was parking was a bit hectic. Was visiting Jersey so I’m not sure if it’s occasional or if it’s a common issue. But overall I loved my stay and I slept really good!"
