This hotel is in a great location near a bus stop and so easy to get to the train station. The room had a kitchenette with a separate living room/ dining area. It was well stocked with cups, plates and cookware. My only complaint is that there were no screens on the windows so we had a few visiting mosquitoes. I believe the no screens is a European thing as the hotels we stayed at in Amsterdam and Paris also didn’t have window screens. Check in was easy and great communication from the host. I...

We loved our 3-night stay. Our room was small and comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the shower had good water pressure. Everything was clean and orderly. Our TV stopped working and was immediately replaced. The breakfast was great - the absolutely best scrambled eggs we have eaten at a hotel breakfast! Lots of fresh food choices. The hotel was near the locations we wanted to visit. Underground parking worked fine. Thank you for a great stay!

Absolutely beautiful spacious room with 3 sitting areas and a very comfortable large bed plus a large bathroom all at a reasonable price. The entire place was absolutely spotless. In fact it sparkled. The hosts were extremely nice and the food in the restaurant was the best of traditional German cuisine. The restaurant and beer garden are full even on weeknights including locals. Always a good sign. I would absolutely stay here again.

As temperatures continue to rise it would be nice to have air conditioning. Not the norm throughout Essen.

The room was very nice and clean. I really enjoyed staying in the room and the breakfast was amazing.

I usually never write reviews but their service, hospitality and kindness makes this the best experience I could ask for, especially for my first time in Essen, Germany. The area is quaint and connected to a neighborhood that makes it feel welcoming and authentic. But the staff is what makes this place shine, they are the heart of my stay and went out of their way to make sure I always felt at home.

The Hotel Friederike was very nice. Nice breakfast. The only negative thing I would say is there is no elevator. So, if carrying your luggage up stairs is a problem for you, might want to ask for a first floor room. I plan to stay there again.

Atmosphere was very good Everything available

Great stay. Right next to the tram.

Proximity to Messe Essen was a huge plus, clean hotel and room, very accommodating staff, walking distance to many restaurants. Could not have had a better stay.

Very nice.

Excellent place

Middle section hotel, next to the art museum, nearby cozy street with restaurants

Staff is excellent and very professional, proactive and helpful. It’s a great location as everything is close and nearby
