According to Wainwright this is down to a Threlkeld man, Harold Robinson, who added a lump of quartzite each time he climbed the hill.

A surprising Topiary Dragon in the gardens of Dalemain, a handsome Country House in the Eden valley near Penrith. Also look out for the herd of fallow deer in the deer park and try the marmalade in the gift shop. Dalemain holds an annual marmalade fest every March.

A static light lighthouse, would make an ideal foreground for Astro or LE startrail shots, taken 7th Aug around 9pm and the sun was setting directly behind it, in line with my position.
