Lovely grounds with birds, flowers, lily pads and a gorgeous pool overlooking the lake. Staff is very helpful, breakfast is elaborate and atmosphere is peaceful. Close to airport so an prime location to recover from tiring air travel or prior to departing from Tanzania.

This property is beautiful, quiet, and has the most amazing spa. Terrific massage. The facilities are lovely, the food is great, and the manager (Ally is his name, but I might not be spelling it correctly) is beyond belief - very attentive, thoughtful, friendly and kind. I travel through Mwanza once or twice a year, and always book a relaxing layover here for me and my groups.

The set up of the property is amazing but not physically friendly for challenged guests as a lot of staircase up and down and limited lifts in certain areas only.Have to improve a lot on their restaurants the food is of very poor qualities for a beautiful place like that and expensive!.

I was miss lead, they told me they gave me an upgrade at no cost. The next morning I woke up with 2 inches of water all over the room. I had to call to be moved to an other room, the room was the same it is not an upgrade!! It was very difficult to get a gluten free meal. Most had no idea what is gluten.

The AC was not working until one of the stuff had to come and fix it then the switch for charging are not safe you should all watch out their switch outlet damaged my charger completely. When I called they said they will send a maintenance personel the next day. I slept with my phone off that forced me to go and buy another charger the next day. I would say the property is over priced and their services are poor. This place used to be the best not anymore poor management I guess.

Our son, who works in Mwanza, recommended that we stayed at Malaika. We were not disappointed. The staff were, without exception, friendly, helpful and courteous. The room was well equipped and was everything that we wanted. The dining options were excellent and the quality of the food was also very good indeed. If we ever go back to Mwanza, we would definitely stay at Malaika again - in a heartbeat.

Great place to stay.

We would recommend this hotel. Buzzing with local nightlife, families, business and pleasure. You can’t go wrong but don’t be fooled by the name beach - you can’t swim in the lake at that point. Great swimming pool though.

Beautiful property

Malaika Hotel was a good place to stay in Mwanza. The grounds are beautiful and well-kept. The staff was accommodating from getting us checked in early to assisting us with getting rides around Mwanza. The food was okay. Breakfast had a large range of buffet foods but none of them were excellent. There is someone making eggs, which was probably the best part of breakfast. I had tilapia one day. The food prices are a bit high but in line with a hotel standard. The pool area is nice and beautifully placed. I went in on a cooler day so didn't stay that long. There were children enjoying the inflatables provided. There were a lot of gnats in the water that weren't that visible until you were in the water. That also hurried my time. The room was spacious but not modern. The bathroom was huge and had a large soaking tub that we didn't use. The water was hot. There was a mini-bar that had some incorrect pricing, which scared us a bit to think that we had a Red Bull for 45,000. We were glad to learn there was an additional 0 at the end. The turndown service was a nice touch. They brought cookies and a chocolate each night and put down the mosquito nets. They should knock louder because I few times I just found them entering when I was in the room. That's quite uncomfortable. I loved that the property next door had a band and club during the weekend. There are several places to sit and relax and enjoy the views.
