Beautiful hotel - old charm and very grand! They have lovely sitting room and furniture all through that is beautiful. Service was fabulous all around and they even accommodated a last minute New Year’s Eve reservation for us. The breakfast is incredible- fresh baked options are so delicious, and the setting was lovely. Only minor bit was the shower - it didn’t drain well and was tiny. The location is also great - close to good restaurants and major sites easily accessible. There is a convenient taxi stand just next door.

Hotel Vesuvio has a beautiful and convenient location by the waterfront, offering classic charm and lovely sea views. However, while it carries a five-star rating, the overall experience felt closer to a four-star standard — and at times even three. The rooms were comfortable but somewhat dated, and service levels varied depending on the staff on duty. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise — good selection, fresh ingredients, and a friendly, attentive breakfast team that made mornings enjoyable. The hotel restaurant also deserves praise: both the food and the service were excellent, with a professional team that clearly takes pride in their work. In contrast, the rest of the staff left a more neutral impression. They were polite and correct, but lacked the warmth and attentiveness you would expect from a top-tier five-star hotel. Overall, Hotel Vesuvio offers a nice stay with a great location, a very good restaurant, and a pleasant breakfast experience — but it doesn’t quite live up to the full five-star expectations.

The hotel, staff and room were amazing. The one negative was that, without any advance notice, the hotel’s restaurant was closed to a private function on both nights, a Thursday and Friday. For a Michilen starred restaurant, that would be unheard of in the US. What made it a bit worse is the staff were clearly uncomfortable with the situation, and would simply say the restaurant was “fully booked,” which was not quite accurate.

Almost an institution where a lot of celebrities used to stay, this property is now showing her age in many ways. Our corner room is renovated and quite comfortable with high quality bed linens. However, many public areas like the lobby, hallway and the small pool are left behind in the bygone era and need a makeover. Rooftop Solarium appears to be recently updated and offers great views with light dining options. To us it was one of the highlights of our stay. Buffett breakfast is decent with many choices although made to order eggs are only available with an extra fee. A small disappointment. Staff are friendly and helpful for the most part which is expected at a hotel at this level.
