Castaneda Hotel

Castaneda Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"We loved the hotel. Spacious rooms with great attention to detail of the the time. (Antiques & photos from its prime) Fabulous check-in experience. The bad was the restaurant. Took forever to get our dinner and never saw our waitress once it came, had to find help in order to check out. Severly under staffed. That being said, the food was very goodl At check-in we were told the restaurant closed at 9 pm but the bar stayed open later.. not true, we went in to get a drink around 9:05 and we were told they were closed. Very disappointed. I would highly recommend the hotel if you love historical places. Use the restaurant with caution!"

Pecos Retreat with a Hot Tub

Pecos Retreat with a Hot Tub

10/10 Excellent
"We really enjoyed our stay. The hummingbirds were extremely entertaining. My husband likes to feed the birds, so he made sure the feeders didn’t go empty.Best access to the river/water we have had in the five years we have been renting homes on the Pecos. There are a few homes past this one on La Pasada. We decided that they were weekend homes, and since we stayed there during the week, we had the whole place to ourselves. Kitchen was fantastic. Water pressure was more than adequate and the best feature of the whole place was the porch, where we sat and watch the hummingbirds do their thing.Access to Lake Monastery and Santa Fe was great. Plan to rebook for next August. Was nice to get away from the Texas heat for a few days."

On the Pecos River in Pecos New Mexico

On the Pecos River in Pecos New Mexico

10/10 Excellent
"Tom was such a great host, and his house is a great property! He was a responsive, even past the point I became a bit of a pest. Pecos is a quiet gem with easy access to Santa Fe and the fishing spots up and down Highway 63. It was a real fun and peaceful retreat all at the same time! The house has a well equipped kitchen, great water pressure in the showers, and laundry facilities that are first right. Great views across a grassy expansive lawn to the deck and river, with sheer cliffs over the tableau. Two items that renters might want to be aware of, a vehicle with greater than a 6-inch clearance is best, given there surface of the driveway. Driving slowly let us avoid bottoming out. Also, as a warning sign in the driveway indicates, it's a pretty steep walk down to the waterfront, especially for somebody mobility impaired. But, it's an easy and worthwhile drive down that same hill for those who might be using a cane. Thanks, Tom!"
