The hotel was in a neighborhood that was heaped with trash on the sidewalks. The room was clean, but wallpaper was peeling off the walls and it was extremely small, barely enough room for suitcases. There was a beeping noise that was constant through the night so that you could barely sleep. I believe that it was the elevator.

I enjoyed my 4-night stay at The Allen. The hotel is quiet, the staff were helpful and the bed was comfortable. There are plenty of good restaurants in the area, with Orchard Street being right behind the hotel.

The Allen Hotel is a tidy, comfortable, convenient and friendly place I love to stay in - on the Lower East Side. It is my hotel of choice. Not too big. They have everything I need. Love the balcony rooms.

The staff here is wonderful and so helpful! The location is good. The room phone wasn't working, so I had to go downstairs to request things, but the excellent service made up for the minor inconvenience during my one-night stay

We stay at this hotel every time we’re in NyC. The location and room is perfect for us. This last stay in June the room was looking a little worse for ware, with light fixtures not sitting in the ceiling properly, wall paper starting to peel and generally it just feeling a little tired. I still love the Allen, just think some maintenance could be attempted and as always wish they had a coffee maker in the room.
