"We had a wonderful stay at Mount Royal Hotel. Waking up to the castle view every morning was truly special, and the staff were consistently warm and welcoming. The room was quite small, with limited storage and no refrigerator. We paid an extra £20 per night for the castle view, and for us, it was worth it. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was the strong musty smell in the shower room, which was unpleasant throughout our stay."

Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh Airport by IHG

"I stayed for two nights at this hotel to be close to the airport as the downtown hotels were either sold out or three-times the price. The hotel is a good value for being near the airport and it is very quiet considering it is near the airport. It is an older hotel, but it is very clean, and the food and bar is good. The bar is open until 9:30 pm, which is a great place to sit and read and relax, even after hours. There is a bus shuttle from the airport which was excellent, although I did walk to the airport to get the bus into Edinburgh twice which was very easy only about 30 minutes. The room was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast exceeded my expectations. I returned in time for dinner both nights, the Asian Coleslaw was great, and there are several vegetarian selections which were good. The only problem with the room was there was only one electrical plug which was next bed over the nightstand, but there was another plug over the desk but I didn't have the adapter for the UK that worked. Since I had only one global adapter, I could only recharge one device at a time. The hairdryer worked well, and the bathroom was very updated and the hot shower was a blessing after walking 16,000 steps around the Edinburgh Castle and down the Royal Mile and around the Old Town and shopping. Thank you to the staff for a great stay. I will come back next year!"

Apex Waterloo Place Hotel

"Stayed for our silver wedding anniversary and glad we chose the Apex Waterloo. Check in was easy and friendly, Room was very nice, clean, spacious and well equipped. Wonderful reception lady came and brought us a bottle of Prosecco on ice with 2 glasses on the house which was a lovely gesture Pool and Spa was lovely and relaxing and for an early Sat evening we had it to ourselves. The lady managing the Spa was wonderfully polite and kind. The bar staff were friendly. Overall a great hotel, yes price was high, but mid July, excellent proximity to city centre, train station etc and special occasion the Apex Waterloo was an excellent choice and would definitely recommend"

"Particularly helpful and welcoming gentleman on reception. All staff were very attentive and cheerful. Recommend making a booking for dinner in main restaurant or Brasserie, as they get booked up. Cocktail bar has very limited menu. Breakfast was very good. "

"Property was very nice. The breakfast was worth the price. Room was smaller than expected but clean and tidy. We were on the fourth floor and our room was a bit too warm."

"The stand out was the service. Friendly staff and excellent service. Room service was speedy and if you had breakfast included there was no extra charge. We had an issue with our TV and someone was there within 2 mins. The amenities in the bathroom smelt gorgeous. Loved the variety in the mini bar. Good size mugs for a cuppa. Only down side was the water pressure in the shower."
